They said they are showing more combat and inventory stuff at PAX so it might be covered there

I don't think that since there is no gear degradation that gear tarnish is specifically out.

 

I imagine the tarnishing may just be what occurs to your gear while you're out adventuring, and that it will disappear when you get to a camp/Skyhold.

We don't know if we're going to be exploring the city (or if we do, how much) though - the only thing they've mentioned about Halamshiral that I know of is the Winter Palace.

The only thing they've hinted at is that there won't be any Assassin's Creed-like "bustling" cities in DAI...

Yeah, I've tried too as well to no avail. I hope we at least see Val Royeaux.

Good question.  I haven't heard about it in a while.

Which also makes me think... if damage accrues and affects the appearance of the armor, does it also break?  Am I gonna have to carry around repair kits?

Ooooh. I love the statue of Andraste, the Orlesians would have a nude statue of her with the blade of mercy going through her.

No, it just means it can be downloaded ahead of time. It will still unlock for playing on the release date and not before.

Nope.If you buy the game on Origin  , you can pre download it ...but you can only play the game on the release date.
