If the developers are already playing it, testing it out, then show us a snippet! C'mon man! Hope they don't wait until next year to show something. VGA's is a good place to show off DA3.

It’s looking good and we’re proud of the team’s progress but we still have a ways to go before we show you anything. We’re doing this right and spending the time to make sure we deliver the game you all deserve.

It really wouldn't be that interesting. Most of the time it's just a bunch of surly people typing.

Edit: Okay, I've been told to inform you that we're only surly sometimes.

That is definitely something we have no real idea about yet, and the comment doesn't really address.

We'll see, I suppose.

We're definitely experimenting with what it means to have a more open level.  Finding some interesting things such as "give people a road, and they tend to follow it" and stuff like that.  Taking that and iterating on the level.  How can we encourage someone to maybe not follow the road (or at least make it clear they don't have to follow it).  Sometimes the road makes thematic sense, maybe we could do smaller roads but that doesn't always work.  At the same time we also don't want to take away from those that enjoy going off the beaten path.  If we effectively put arrows on the ground that say "there's something cool over there" they won't enjoy it as much.

If it helps, even I don't know what that is. Mark is a horrible photographer, and should feel bad.

I totally know what that says now but I won't totally ruin Mark's thunder by totally revealing it here because I'm totally a jerk.

I'm not sure how you concluded that the options are "I love the Chantry" or "Deal with it" based on what Mary said.  Or even what role the Inquisition will be playing...

No, I was saying I figured that those wouldn't be your only options. I'm sure you'll have a "reason," "purpose," "something" besides :

Opening credits then "hey, you're the Inquisitor, go inquire!"

Ah.  When I see "figured" I see past tense, meaning I read it as a perspective you once had, but now no longer hold.  In other words, it looked like your post was saying that you once held the opinion that the topic would have more variety, but you now no longer feel that way.

Meh, they're having fun.

Part of why we opened this is also for people to stop filling up DA2 forums with DA3 threads. It was not exactly the best kept secret in the entire world and all.

I really hate these stupid tweets that don't say anything about anything. They're basically just nonsensical wastes of time that we get nothing out of. And this whole "We won't actually show anything from the game until Spring 2013, but please discuss everything(see: nothing) about the game except for the leak" is ridiculous. Priestly confirmed they only announced the game because of the Doctors' departure, but what was the point? They have nothing to show us to garner excitement and pre-orders haven't started so what exactly did they get out of it? The only news coverage it's gotten is "Dragon Age 3 has a title and that's it."

Ha. You would have done poorly in the three year span between DAO's announce and its reveal. If you expect the forums to be a place where information is provided, coming here during that time is definitely an exercise in frustration.

Why IS it called SPRINTreviewday anyway? Is there sprinting involved? It seems an odd way to hold a meeting in that case. xp

It's part of Agile Development, where a game development cycle is split up into milestones-- which are further split up into three-week sprints. So a sprint review is where everyone gets together and reviews the progress which has been made over the last three weeks, and tracking how close we are to meeting our goals for the milestone.

It's called having fun.  The point is to try and say things without saying anything. ;)

Some people like to follow them and analyze and it seems fun for them too.

People that don't follow the tweets or don't care, don't have to.

Origins wasn't announced with just a name and nothing to show. But I did follow news on Origins closely from it's announcement to its release so my problem is not waiting. You could say my problem is...

There's nothing to analyze. Its literally nonsense. Unless the DA3 team is using some elaborate code and thinks we're all like the autistic kid from Mercury Rising I don't see the point of it. It seems like a waste of you guy's time and it's definitely a waste of ours to try and glean anything from it. We got more info out of a single tweet from a voice actor than the hundreds of tweets from actual developers.

I'm confused as to how, while sitting in a room watching great presentations, tweeting a sentence about them is a "waste of time".

But thats besides the point.

It's fun for us, and for the people that do like to follow along.

Is this the first time Bioware has used Agile?

I don't remember hearing about it during ME3's development, or DA2 - although admittedly I didn't follow DA2 that closely.

Just interested in its benefits compared to other methods, or why it seems to be something a lot of teams are raving about all of a sudden.

Agile has been used on each of the projects from what I know.

The counterpoint to agile is more predictive development, which attempts to plan everything out from the get go.  In reality we use a hybrid, because we do have larger scale goals of the project, but the thing about agile is shorter development "sprints" so that you can achieve deliverables to the customer so that the customer can provide feedback.  From there, iteration can occur to make sure the feature is as expected and delivers the appropriate end result.

Obviously there is more productive stuff you can do while one team leaves the theater and another comes in =]
