If you're looking for a more current version of the mage, in the Combat Gameplay video you can see they no longer use the hand-blasts...

I quite liked the look and while I don't mind the staff I just felt that the hand autoattack looked a bit better, but that's just me.

 

I didn't mind the hand attack either... Maybe they prefer the more flamboyant staff attacks? Maybe the staff attack is a more clear visual cue that you're attacking while zoomed out?

Hmm, the page says he is voiced by Steve Kelly. Was this actually confirmed, or are they assuming he is because the German winners are voicing them in the German version?

Especially since it opened the possibility that we could run a mage without a staff.  And I very much want that.  I didn't use a staff in DAO (because I didn't like the idea of a magical auto-attack), and I wish I hadn't had to in DA2.

Especially since it opened the possibility that we could run a mage without a staff.  And I very much want that.  I didn't use a staff in DAO (because I didn't like the idea of a magical auto-attack), and I wish I hadn't had to in DA2.

I was 12-13 years old. Hooked on Final Fantasy IX and Chrono Cross that year. Mourning the finale of Star Trek Deep Space Nine the previous summer, still, no doubt. Wondering if those upcoming LOTR movies would be any good. Doing lots of martial arts and playing lots of soccer! Also, crazy things, but those were crazy.
