As your resident "person who has taught university-level history classes", I feel both gratified (yay history) and saddened (because by implication you'd rather take fake history classes than real ones).

Also I have TAed a War of 1812 course and it is totally applicable to modern politics, especially the vexed question of dissent in wartime, so if you don't think that it's "something you would use every day" your professor was clearly doing a poor job D:

Please, don't take my joke the wrong way. I actually love history. Especially medieval western europe, regency and Victorian England. Also, I am obsessed with Boudicca and the Iceni's sacking of two Roman settlements in the British isles (as well as a few parts of the occupying roman forces). I often read my American and world history books for fun.

Haha, don't worry about it. I'd actually rather like to teach Thedosian history myself.
