Has anyone acquired the world of thedas yet? If so, please do tell if you found something that may be DA3 related

Mine just arrived, I'll post anything I find.

There's nothing in it that explicitly hints to the story of Inquisition or the characters therein as far as I can tell. I haven't yet scoured every single line of text, but I have gone through the collector's version front to back, reading most of it along the way.

well... we see excitement slowly begins to turn into bitterness and zynical responses... might be a sign for Bioware not to go too far with the information silence...

Interesting.

E3 is in Los Angeles, as usual.

Edit: since I suppose this is a Twiter thread:

For those who may be wondering (I was wondering), Jessica is a bioware community manager. And that is interesting.

Now I'm just waiting for the post where they're looking for DA superfans in Luleå... Shouldn't be long...

More layoffs at BioWare. My friend, Nathan Plewes who worked there 13 years is out. Wow.

Ryan Loe ‏@ryan_loe 17 Apr
@[user] yeah, round one was the temps. Round 2 the project. My guess is round three will be the studio.

The studio? Huh. That sounds ominous.

"Round 2 the project" ... making cuts to the game itself is extremely concerning.

Yeah. All those tweets about how this game is going so well, and how its going to blow us all away etc.
I was so excited, but now I just have this horrible sinking feeling...
I feel bad about the layoffs, don't get me wrong, but I really hope the game doesn't suffer from all this.

Well, I'd say if they are cutting guys who have been at Bioware for 13 years, they are past Phase 1 and are already into Phase 2. After all, 13 years is hardly a temp. If this Tweet is really what's going on, that is.

Some more context:

Ryan Loe ‏@ryan_loe
I will say that the people in the Edmonton office worked really hard to keep as many people as they can.

I believe by 'project' he meant project team staff, as opposed to contract staff. The 'phases' tweet seemed to be his own summary of what he thought was going on, replying to someone's question.

(It'd still affect the game in the long run, I suppose, but it's not 'project' as in 'today we're hacking out levels x, y and z)

Also, Mr Plewes was an associate producer, last on the ME3 MP team overseeing that part of the game. Only one layoff from the DA side of the Edmonton team has actually been confirmed, we don't have any other information.

I believe Ryan said a few people had been layed off when he was let go, via a tweet. Gimme a sec and I'll see if I can find it again.

Do we know if these layoffs happened today, or on Friday and people are just now Tweeting about it?

ElitePinecone: here we go

Ryan Loe: "So, I found out today that Friday is my last day at BioWare. Nothing to do with performance. Just belt tightening. I'm not the only one."

Well, according to the first tweet it happened on the 11th of April, then again on the 17th. Dunno if there's been anymore though.

Mr Loe was unfortunately laid off about a week ago, and apparently some more people were only told a few days ago. Nobody's giving much more information than that, at least about Bioware devs.

(There were also some much larger layoffs in EA generally over the last few weeks - whole mobile studios have been shut down and many layoffs at EA Motreal, EA Galway in Ireland and an EA studio in India.)

There's an EA in Ireland? I totally didn't know that!

It seems likely that the reductions at Edmonton are related to the layoffs across other areas of the company, but I doubt we'll ever get accurate information about how many have been affected in Bioware. It certainly doesn't look like the studio is shutting down.

For example, this April 17 article and other previous reporting says EA Montreal, Brazil, San Francisco (that was "Bioware Social", who made Dragon Age Legends), Los Angeles, India and the Playfish studios were either shut down completely or had staff cuts in the past two months. It seems to be linked to financial performance, and cost-cutting measures.

Oh, I doubt they'd shut BioWare down. At least, not any time soon.

Really sad to see good people at Bioware loosing their job. It's also troubling to hear this because of how it may affect the game. Why would EA do this mid-project?? Let these people work and then, if they must, cut them after the game has been released.
