From the article it seems you gain money from MP, though I'm not sure (I've read the article in a few seconds).

I think the money you gain is money to buy the heroes, skins and other stuff. It's money only for the MP.
Atleast from this article that's how it looks. Either buy it with RL money or earn it through playing the MP.
They've said multiple times now MP has NO effect on SP.

Not originally. Good luck getting the perfect red ending without MP
Thankfully they listened to complaints and fixed that later. And seeing how DAI MP is done, they kept that embarrassing situation in mind

I didn't need MP in ME3 to get my best ending, only an expansion of my worst, but yeah, the concept blew because obviously a lot of people wanted that thing.

Does affect any of the single player story? I.e. Strength of the Inquisition to get better outcomes for ending/or other plots

Of course. But as past years have shown, when the game launches they're going to focus on the MP aspect far more than on SP, also it will impact SP in some way I bet. So I may get it when it gets to the bargain bin a few months after the release.

We have like, a reference point of one for Bioware games with MP (that aren't MMOs).

 

And the one thing that I know you're implicitly referring to with ME3 that would make your statement even somewhat close to true was stated to be a mistake and a bug so it wasn't specifically multiplayer's (especially since it wasn't the only way to earn additional galactic readiness, it just happened to the most readily available to earn it since it came with the game compared to either the companion app or that mobile game) fault that ended up the way it did.

On topic curious as to what themes refers to. As long as no story elements /items are MP gated, enjoy.

Probably that the SP is about building the Inquisition, and MP is more directly building Inquisition agents up.

I almost guarantee that you will make mp friends if you give it a whirl.

 

I've had bad, "female-gamer" related issues with MP strangers - the usual stuff.  Though the DA crowd would be different than the GTA5 players (in theory) so I suppose there's that.  I'm certain to give it a whirl, don't get me wrong, but it will be well after my first playthrough is exhausted & likely without the use of my headset.

I fear most folks on BSN are gonna be PC wielders from what I've seen in the past. If a bunch said the console I'm getting the game on I might be more tempted to give the thing a shot, even though I know from ample experience I'll probably not enjoy it very much.

My concern is not so much about the MP having a direct impact on SP, but that SP interfaces and gameplay mechanics will be molded (and limited) so that MP and SP controls are "similar".  

 

That is my biggest fear.   I hate having limited UI and controls geared for 'fast-paced' combat with limited ability selection hot buttons.

On a slightly different note, the armors those MP characters were using looked pretty darn sweet!

While I will not likely use MP at the start, I do like the ideas of a non-PvP, co-op environment, and could use it to fill in imaginary battles of the Inquisition troops moving about ahead or concurrently of the main party. Good stuff!
