Would you people learn how to read? I never said the devs should stop tweeting about the game. I said they haven't stuck to their own policy of showing us the game instead of telling us about it. My earlier post shows that to be true, they haven't stuck to the policy at all. Chris Priestly decided to skirt the subject by insinuating I'm raging against the devs tweeting things or discussing the game outside of official announcements. That was childish of him and it's childish of all of you to just jump on me for something I never even said.

I read your post, and it's a lot of pointless grousing over nothing.

Despite what you said about irrefutability, the point is totally subjective. I don't feel that Bioware has violated their "show don't tell" policy. What's more, your childish blathering doesn't accomplish anything; if anything, for the people who are actually following the devs' Twitters accounts, it's actually detrimental.

So shut up. Nobody wants to hear it. There's no victory to be achieved here. You're just proving yourself to be an arrogant blowhard who, deliberately or otherwise, is trying to ruin a marginally good thing.

Good God, could you be a bigger tool? You say you read my posts but then you spew that stupid crap? Don't lie about dumb **** to try to make other people look bad.

omg... small comments seem to get out of hand really fast in here :D...

of course I don't want those tweets to stop... I was just a little irritated... every time I read "The game looks awesome" I really ache for anything I can judge for myself...

that being said, keep up the sprint review... I'll just start biting my fingernails then ^^

Don't worry we don't blame you. This is all BasilKarlo's fault.

This **** is like clockwork. BasilKarlo says something, a dev responds, Karlo feels like he's being prosecuted by the dev in question, forum goers descend upon him.

For the record, if Chris is saying that people posting on their personal accounts are not truly the voice of Bioware, I don't see exactly how he could tell employees what they can or cannot post on their personal accounts? Unless they are violating some type of non-disclosure agreement, then they could really only enforce a policy that they not use Bioware associated accounts, Tweet during work hours or use Bioware associated hashtags, such as #DA3 or #Bioware.

I really could care less about splitting hairs of if Bioware is following some vague marketing policy or not... but I do think Chris' post may not entirely result in the equivalent of a media black out, even if he were to actually act on it (which I doubt he would, based on a dozen or so forum posts).

If people truely believe this, as Online Event Coordinator, I will have the Dragon Age team go dark on their Twitter accounts involving work. No more DA week or Sprint Review Day or similar.

I believe that most people can tell the difference between "BioWare says" and "Mike Laidlaw tweeted", but if that is causing confusion or misinformation being spread by us, however inadvertly, I will work with the team to make sure we stick to the "show not tell" comment that we are all following.

Who else feels like BasilKarlo does?

Noooooo, don't do it! We'll be good, promise... Well, I will anyway. :innocent:

(I like all the unofficial tweetings and Sprints!)

That defense holds no water IMO. If it's just supposed to be personal expressions and not  taken as official statements from developers then why is #DA3 always used in those tweets? That was established as the official hash tag when Inquisition was announced and it's used to keep all things Inquisition readily accessible.

The fact that some devs use the #DA3 hashtag when talking about DA3 does not mean they are making an official statement on behalf of the entire team/company. Is that so hard to understand?

I don't think a reasonable person could look at Sprint Review Days etc and consider that official communication. They're a nice, entertaining way for devs to interact with fans, and an interesting insight into the dev process to boot.

If I understood it correctly, "showing rather than telling" referred to marketing the game with actual existing assets instead of vague, nebulous developer statements that could easily be misinterpreted, taken as promises or used to build false/unrealistic expectations about the game. IMO, Aaryn or Mike saying "wow DA3 looks shiny, I reckon everyone will love this" does NOT equal "telling" anything, beyond their own opinion. It's impossible for a reasonable person to consider that official information about the state of the game, compared to the sorts of "telling" that accompanied DA2/ME3, which Bioware is presumably hoping to minimise.

Don't let the complainers get their way.

Keep up the DA Weeks and Sprint Reviews. These are just simple events where us fans can get some tidbits about the upcoming game.

We will get a DA3 reveal soon enough, everyone just needs to be patient and stop crying about everything Bioware does.

This is my point. They're telling us things about the game without showing us anything. I don't understand why Priestly seems so hellbent on defending their adherence to the "show, don't tell" policy when there is no reasonable way to defend it. At all. Trying to turn it around on me like I'm just unhappy about the tweets or sprint review days or whatever is childish.

To me, they're showing that their staff of writers and devs are excited about what they're creating.  They aren't telling us a thing about the game itself, just showing how committed they are and how happy they are with how it's going.  And the goose.  They totally showed us a goose.

It always rain in Ferelden according to World of Thedas. Unless it's snowing (you know harsh winters and all that).

Jesus people, calm down. Basil has said his piece and you have all said yours. Bioware sticking to their "show, not tell" policy is, like everything else, subjective. One could look at it the way Basil does, or you could look at it like ElitePinecone put it. Tweets are not revealing information the same way a livestream or gameplay video would. But they DO talk about the game. That's the point of the tweets. They know we "need" to hear about the game, so they tweet and discuss things vaguely because they can't talk about specifics or show us actual gameplay yet.

TL;DR
Chill out, have a drink and get back to the speculating and having fun guessing possible content for the game and please, BSN... Get along.

Would you care to elaborate on what Thedas shattering definitive information we have been told?

I implore you to please use unbiased objective evidence without resorting to your customary bitterness and bile.

Like everyone already said Basil, none of the info Bioware devs have given is official stuff. I'm positive once the reveal happens, and marketing starts happening...the 'show don't tell' policy will be used.

So just chill out and wait until the reveal until you start whining about everything.

Read my previous posts instead of insulting me. The only bitterness and bile is coming from you and the others who didn't care to read what I actually wrote and decided to play into Priestly's childish attempt to turn the focus to me.

That's a nonsensical argument. They've done presentations giving details about the game. They've posted on these forums giving us details on the game. Etc.
I'm not going to just concede to the rediculous argument that it only counts if it has "OFFICIAL" flashing above it in neon. We know we can only be human. We know we get to choose from non-playable backgrounds. We know companions will have aesthetic armor customization. We know parts of the game take place in Orlais. We know the game is larger than Origins. And we know all of this because various developers of the game have told us. To say that nothing they tell us outside of official press releases and presentations in front of huge audiences actually counts makes their interaction with us here on these forums meaningless. It makes no sense and to suggest it does is intellectually dishonest.

So if Bioware comes out and says "We meant show not tell AFTER we reveal the game" will you be happy?

Just calm down man. I'm trying to be respectful of your opinion and thoughts on this issue but you make it so much more serious than it needs to be. All those things you listed are either not official confirmed(just heavily hinted) or such a basic piece of info that it doesn't need to be shown. If Bioware says the PC will be human I doubt many people will be like HEY I DON'T BELIEVE YOU, SHOW ME SOME PICTURES FOR PROOF!

Just wait for the reveal, and if Bioware doesn't follow the show not tell, then you can complain all you want.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of BioWare's 'show not tell' policy was that they weren't going to rely on PR spin, such as the now infamous 'push a button and something AWESOME happens' phrase, to sell the game. Instead they would give only pure facts and let us all make up our own minds about it.
