Kind of off topic, maybe, but that thing really doesn't even look like a spider to me.  I'm a mild arachnophobe--pics of them don't bother me (Mostly.  Brazilian wandering spider pics, though, kind of make me shudder.).  Maybe a giant tick or something, but not a spider.

I have to agree.  Huge arachnaphobe here - can *barely* look at a pic of a spider without getting creeped out.  Get through the scenes in DA with spiders by closing my eyes as soon as I hear the hiss, and just mashing the attack button.  But the picture of that thing doesn't bother me in the slightest.  I get much more of a Lovecraftian horror vibe from it than a "giant spider" one.  *shrug*

Wait, wait...

DA:I is released... I think it is 18-21 of November?

And today is 7th of Spetember

So... that's more than 75 days, isn't it?

...

I'm confused

nope 75 days til the eu/uk/ireland release.. got a countdown on my desktop

Two months and fourteen days, roughly. That's 75 days.

So...

Blinky is neither tick nor spider- it's the next step in the evolutionary ladder.

Ticker, or spick? Or spicker?

It looks quite terrifying, but at the moment I just get a 'generic-fantasy-evil-monster' vibe from it.

The original release date was Oct 7th for NA and Oct 10th for EU, so that would make sense.

It says "From November 20" because that's when the first countries across the entire pond start getting it, not because it's wrong.

Has EA ever released an official statement about what happens to people who use 3rd party programs to get around the region issue? Will I lose my account?

My friend used some proxy service to activate ME3 earlier. His account is fine. I don't think there will be some measures from EA to prevent getting around the region issue for DAI. I'm also don't think there will be any official statement.

Well, you're not doing anything outright totally wrong.

But I can't say I'd suggest it myself.

The sole reason being retailers would be kinda... meh... but well... yeah. Better safe than sorry.

If the worst thing that you do in a week is playing a game that you've paid for and that has already been released in another region... well, you're a better person than I am, and I don't lose any sleep at night.

Damn you cranky retailers, I will suffer during those days!

Erm i believe they said for me3 that they wouldnt take any action against anyone who did. Too long ago to remember where to find the official quote though. I certainly unlocked me3 earlier using a vpn and i intend to for DA:I too ;)

I think it was just an one Bioware employee's words, not an official statement from EA.

Can we please take the release date and Blinky discussions to another thread? They're off topic for this one.

Thanks.

Interesting post on Cullen and PTSD and how latter is not just rage-attacking everyone like TV thinks: http://shmegegi.tumblr.com/post/96390092792  cc @bbattye

For record, I don't know if Iron Bull would qualify as having PTSD. I based his attitude on soldiers returning from heavy active service.

That's a very good point about PTSD and it's nice to see it supported by an official member of the DA: I team in regards to Cullen.

Well it's OT, and I'm sorry, but what struck me in that piece is this sentence (not the PTSD, because I know very little about it):

I can’t help but ask this question considering he’s spent over half his life in the ranks of a military organization that would certainly train its members.

Except that the Templars are not really a military force. From everything we know about them, they operate more like a police force. And despite the militarization of police that's going on in the US these days, the battle tactics and theory of these two braches are vastly different.

Yeah, having known people with PTSD, it's not like they're all ticking time bombs. One or two might be, probably due to another underlying mental condition. But everybody? Nope.

They most certainly are a quasi-military organization. Both games have featured Templars in conflicts outside of their normal purview of policing mages (fighting the darkspawn and the qunari).

As someone who grew up with a Vietnam veteran for a father, PTSD is way more complicated than just "roid raging" out, that almost never happens. That being said though, it was always well known among everyone in my family that you don't startle my dad when he's sleeping, and if you do need to wake him up, do it as gently as possible from across the room, lol.

Also you can get PTSD from a lot of different traumatic events, not just war. Sexual assault, abuse, a really bad car accident, a house fire, being robbed at gun point, you name it, all can cause some form of PTSD in a person.

If it weren't for the delay we would only have to survive September and then..

Darn it.

I took freakin' two weeks vacation so that I could play the game in peace and not worry about work!
