From previous games, there is no correlation between a Vallaslin and a Daish's role.

It's not the Qun, they don't have roles. It's choosing which god you want written all over your face, which says something about you. And it is connected, that's why there are fan guides from the games where we HAVE seen the elves with them, but with new tattoos we're at a loss.

They have Halla Herders, they have Hunters, they have Craftsman, they have Keepers, they have Healers, etc. The Dalish do have roles. They can choose their role, but they have a role in the clan.

You may also note that those elves have differently-shaped ears. It's almost like they were...customized. #dundundunnn

Well, in this case, dear Bioware we'd like to see some customization options. We'd like to see tattoos for Elves, horns for Qunari, beards for Dwarfs and whatever for Humans. Everyone happy now?

But.. but... dwarf girls!

And what about us who want hornless Qunari! (Yeah I'm totally gonna go with horns)

They have jobs, not roles. They can change jobs, they are not born for them. And they are loose in their requirements. Sufficently so that they can choose ehich method they would use to fulfill it in, coresponding to various deities.

I don't think they can change. They are trained since children to do the role. If they can change roles, Cammen for example wouldn't be freaking out that he can't complete his hunt but rather "Oh well, hunter isn't for me. I'll be a craftsman instead.".

But this is offtopic.

Why should people rolling an Elven inquisitor get preferential treatment like that ? We don't know what kind of horns the Qunari can have, we don't know what kind of beards the Dwarves can have, why should we know what kind of Vallaslin there are ?

In DA:O you got to see all the physical customizations (beard styles for Dwarves, etc...) but the meaning of each vallaslin was never revealed. We know they all HAVE meanings and the Dalish warden and inquisitor would know them as would any Dalish you meet, but the player is for whatever reason kept in the dark.

I for one would really like to know if the vallaslin I've put on my Inquisitor at random really represents the ancient elven god of genital warts. :?

I feel ashamed to admit this but I bought David Gaiders "Asunder" and Patrick Weekes "The Masked Empire" to read at work during my breaks. Appreciate that I read English translations of Foucault and scientific journals. I had the choice of the entire literature of the English speaking world and I still chose these two books to buy.

Now what is this "Last Flight" novel you speak of.

IDK, if I were BW I would just be like "it's up to your interpretation, because we don't want to hear you complain if your headcanon Dalish has a spirit god with an ugly vallaslin and that makes you angry."

I'm starting to wonder if Bioware even knows what the tattoos mean, I could understand them just making tattoos that look good and not worrying about what they represent.

And I understand why you want to see the tattoos and know what they mean, but in the grand scheme of things it's still very minor, and if they reveal tattoos I feel they should reveal something for all the other races as well.

I'm not sure if the new tattoos have meaning either but I really want to be proven wrong.

Why do you feel ashamed? They are good books. You have nothing to be ashamed of.

I adore how much the inquisitors we've just seen look gorgeous and yet like actual people.

They don't feel needlessly photoshopped to perfection, or have supermodel golden ratio proportions, or have airbrushed, perfect skin. Part of this is Frostbite giving them the capacity to do this, but a lot of the credit goes to the artists for giving us realistic "flaws." And it's not even really flaws, it's simply not looking like the cookie cutter pre-built base model we usually get.

I love the lady elf's freckles and strong chin! I love the dude elf's prominent nose and sleepy eyes!

I don't know everyone's names, but shout-out to the 3D modelers and texture artists and character designers (and though we can't see it in the screenshot, shout-out to the animators and riggers) and also the lighters and everyone else responsible for this awesomeness!

That's what I thought initially just after I saw those images. DAI is god-blessed, I guarantee.

Well, I figure they've gotten as far as "these tats represent the gods" to provide meaning to why they have them... but haven't actually assigned any tat to any god specifically.

Ryan Treadwell @Ryan_Treadwell

It's the first [x] made in the Frostbite engine, so we had to do it right!

It's tweets like this that make me feel a such a sense of 'knocking it out of the park' with this game.

The extra time to build it right, even the 6 week delay says there is a real focus on quality.

Feeling very safe in the devs' hands...

Me too but if we have to have vassalin I'd rather go with the old ones which I at least know the likely meaning of rather than the scribbles we've seen so far.   :)

Face tatoos are a bit "council estate" for my taste, but I do plan to have Scribbles all over my face...

Oh, that's not what we were talking about? :P

Isn't Blackwall female-only romance? Obviously a male player can play a female character though, if that as what you meant.
