That's not true. We knew about the island expansion before Uni was out. EA even released a vid with a dev playing with his boat house.

Was it named at the time, and officially given a release date?  I know that, for instance, there are plans for a "futuristic" expansion after this watery one, but it doesn't have a name or release date.  But as seen above, it's been confirmed that this announcement is Sims 4.  Whee.  

To bring this back on topic, I guess we can now be somewhat confident that there will NOT be a DA3 magazine cover coming out tomorrow.

They just announce the Sims 4 , and in the official release :" giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever in this single-player offline experience"

I like how they feel they needed to write Single Player OFFLINE experience.

Alof those doubting DA3 for 2013....As of a day ago it is still planned for 2013 so we really have no basis to assume it'll be delayed till 2014.

Either way, I'm excited for the reveal!

BioWare are the ones who decided to not announce DA3 early, EA has nothing to do with that decision. They can announce it one month before release if they want to.

Bioware is EA and EA is Bioware, like some kind of developer/publisher ouroboros.

I don't think it's as clear cut as saying they're separate entities with their own domains. Marketing would need to have the announcement worked out months beforehand, and it's not like the developers just emerge from a sealed dome when they feel like it to hand over the finished game. DA3 also affects things like EA's stock price, revenue forecasts for particular quarters and the outlook of investors, so there's a business consideration there too.

That's my theory so far. 

I still think they will delay it.  I would think that  he can't confirm the delay yet because, well, the EA is not giving them the green light to say it  officially.

I'd believe it as well but I don't think it's a wise marketing decision. Neither is announcing early with no information but this close to release, they should have some concrete information which they can share.

Then again, most marketing decisions aren't really that wise.

They announced DA3 last year. They just haven't "unveiled" it yet. And yes, EA does have a say in when games they are paying for get announced/revealed and how they are marketed.

I'm desperate for info too, but I'm starting to believe that the reason we don't even have a screenshot yet is because of some sort of exclusive content partnering deal with Microsoft that will be expanded on at their new Xbox reveal in a couple of weeks. If they do the teaser right (like simply showing Morrigan) they can gather hype quickly for a full gameplay and mechanics reveal at E3. Then a holiday season release won't be too unrealistic

Why would Microsoft pay EA to have a teaser of a cross-platform game take time away from exclusive and larger NextBox titles?
It makes no sense.
