In the loot window, can we please compare gear, against all party members, even absent ones?

No, you cannot. Memory management means non-active characters are not loaded outside of base.

 

Which would suggest we can manage our entire party's gear at Skyhold, but not outside it...

 

Do we know anything about the stores? Can we compare equipment to all our companions (even those not currently in the party, like DAO) or do we need to go back to camp, switch out our party and then go back to the store with the other companions (like DA2)?

Not sure how stores will work. I imagine if it's a merchant inside of Skyhold you should have no problem comparing gear will all your followers. But outside of it, I'm guessing it'll just be with the companions you have with you.
