Fun fact about the Character Creator: There is no default gender. It is randomized each time you enter Char Gen #DragonAgeInquisition

YES. I hope this makes a difference in the collected data about what race/gender people play.

As a data guy, I'm really excited to see all the what everyone makes. ![]()

Race is not also random? That would have been even better. ;(
Ryan Treadwell @Ryan_Treadwell
The way we constructed the screen made race more difficult to randomize. We chose to go for quality of experience there.
Are they going to do another stream with elf and dwarf customization? Or do we at least know when the other CC video from the con will be up?
I just cannot understand why they kept the design of the DA2 darkspawn, that majority of fans hated. No wait I rephrase myself. That NONE approved.
I aggree. The "new" darkspawn design is just stupid and looks incredibly ugly ... and not in a good way ugly.

I really think you're over-generalizing here, because I for one very much approved the change. In DAO they just looked like corrupted, almost zombified versions of the races, and genlocks just looked scaled down Hurlocks. The DA2 design made them seem more monstrous by taking away their more human qualities, and it also diversified the design of each subspecies.
So yeah, not EVERYONE disapproved.
Also, this really isn't the place to discuss the artistic style of the Darkspawn.

@Mike_Laidlaw @Cameron__Lee were those the only hair options for qunari that we saw? or are there more?
Better?
Much. ![]()
Better?
Very much.Thanks ![]()
DA2 were better imo and I'm not alone. Another blanket statement that is really not that true.
Correction... DA2:Legacy's darkspawn are beter.
Cassandra looks like she's about to be molested by a giant tentacle.

How is the fact that they looked like corrupted versions of the races a bad thing? That's what darkspawn are. They spawn from corrupted female members of each race and represent the parent race in their appearance and abilities.
I also don't see how DA2's design made them MORE monstrous? They don't look like monsters in DA 2, they look like extremely ugly and pale humans on rabies.
Pre-order bonus in the Japanese version of the game.
That's racist.

Never presume to speak for anyone besides yourself. While I don't think the DA2 darkspawn were perfect, I felt like their design was a step in the right direction and it fit their lore better than the DA:O versions did. I definitely approve of the decision to keep their appearance similar to the DA2 version, though I am interested to see how it's evolved.
Perhaps a separate darkspawn thread would be useful?
I must admit I HATED the DA2 darkspawn. The Hurlock Alphas in Legacy weren't bad, and the Ogres were ok, but everything else?
Hurlocks in DAO were blood splattered lunatics dripping with gore and filth. Hurlocks in DA2 were weird screamy rat people.
Genlocks in DAO were simian monstrosities of low cunning and bizarre strength. Genlocks in DA2 were strange ape-things without any weapons or cunning.
Emissaries followed the lores of magic and were part of individual races in DAO. In DA2 Emissaries were some mysterious other species of Darkspawn that looked completely different.
Shrieks were in DAO. Shrieks weren't in DA2.
I'm sorry, but I can't see how people can say that the DA2 designs were better, more lore accurate, or more monstrous. If someone explained this to me...
Only thing I'm sad about is that apparently my Qunari lady can't have the lush mane I wanted her to have. Oh well.
