gee bioware thanks allot now I will spend hours on cc ![]()
CC:
Many casual players:
Human male - Head 1 default.
Done.
The tears of lost opportunity...
What they should do is make "Beauty" the default character in the CC. Then you'll know for sure people would spend time customizing. Some how. Some way. Just to get that face the hell out of there. ![]()
They say that the different difficulties are, in fact, just more options in the CC ![]()
I think I'll spend A LOT of time making my inquisitor, and I have to make 4 of them....

Sounds more and more like this game will be unplayable for me (huge Dragon Age story/lore fan but "casual" gamer). [Regarding the lack of healing spells - Hrungr]
I don't believe that's the case. The whole combat system is reworked to account for lack of healspam. Also: Easy difficulty

Could you please elaborate on what you meant by "carrying additional potions on a per-character basis"?
I'll get into a bit more detail on that in the next few weeks, actually.

I'm kinda pissed about no healing magic... sounds... bad... plz stop talking about mitigation as if it's healing... it is NOT
We have built the game such that spamming heals is not vital. I am aware that Mitigation is not healing.

Is there a set date for Dragon Age Keep to be open to everyone?
There is not a set date beyond "before the game launches"
User
are those really the only hair options for the female Qunari? They are very disappointing....
Yes. Sorry to disappoint.
Can someone ask the devs if the Qunari have any options for darker sclera like the DA2 Qunari? I'm sure the answer is no but I just want confirmation.

I don't really have a problem with the direction DA:I combat has gone, but...
He keeps referencing heals and spam together as if they're inherently bound concepts. You can have healing spells tuned with cooldowns such that you still have to deploy them tactically, and are unable to "spam" them...
has anyone asked the devs to clarify if the hair/eyebrow/beard colors all share the same slider in CC? or, if in the final build, they will have separate sliders?

This pretty much. They could even have a tactical mechanic if their healing rate or cooldown was based on the mages mana or ally's health. Longer cooldown for healing more or more healing the larger the manapool is or how much % is left when the spell is casted.

Well it seems that the main point here is that they want you to have to make choices. When you have a limited amount of healing (eg: potions), then you have to decide what fights to pick. If you have any kind of heal spell (that isn't dependent on combat, like they were talking about the Focus heal spell a while back) you are given the option to just sit between encounters, and use your heal spell each time its up, regardless of the cooldown.
They want people to have to go "Well, do i have enough health to do this particular thing, or will i have to make a sacrifice?" Any kind of heal, even a single target, long cool down heal, takes that effect out of the equation, if you are patient enough.

Uh, that is *exactly* what happens in-game. As many many many others have said before, healing isn't gone; it's just no longer nearly as prevalent as it once was, and combat/exploration has been entirely redesigned around this.

Oh thanks for the clarification!
I heard somewhere that one of the focus abilities is a mass heal? Is that a thing or am I making that up? I do that sometimes.
The new combat philosophy just clicked for me seeing the video yesterday so I really think an in-depth Twitch feed dedicated to combat would do a world of good for the fanbase, if that's a possible suggestion. I thought maybe showing the same ~5-10 minute battle at all difficulty levels and explaining how one might prepare their party and their battlefield with this new approach to combat for each would be really useful.
It's been fully explained but since people are so nervous about combat, the line seems to have been "it's between DAO and DA2" in order to assuage fear. I think it's totally new though and people are getting stuck on the idea that it has to be like either of the two before. I mean, many spells and abilities carry forward and the world is the same but I think a really nitty gritty combat demo would get people thinking on the right track for the game.

I agree, I think this would settle a lot of people down too.

I'm considering inaugurating DA:I with my first Let's Play via Upload Studio. I'll also try to do it in a way that wouldn't ****** me off personally if I were a viewer. Making video's on a quest by quest basis, no needless annoying talking, and as informative as I can be without being annoying.
I just want to put this out to the Bioware team, I'm sorry you are receving some hasty and critical judgements on what are, subjectively, minor details. The amount of options/customization and detail you seem to have put into this game, is exactly what this genre needed. We appreciate all your efforts thus far.

I understand what they're trying to do with it, and as I said I don't really mind it. But I think the overall shift from reacting to threats to preparing for threats is what is causing people stress. It sort of forces a micro-managing playstyle regardless of what difficulty you're playing on. Now when I embark out the door to explore or do missions I need to spend time fine-tuning everything I need for the threats I am likely to face in the area I'm traveling to, as well as how well I can sustain myself should unexpected threats arise.
In games past, as long as you were playing on the right difficulty, you could likely just have someone such as Wynne be a constant in your party and feel generally secure that she had the toolset (that wasn't bound by how many supplies you could fit in your pocket) to face whatever you might encounter.
With the new style of healing you're going to be worried every time you step out the door whether you've got everything you need, or end up having to return to camp every 15 minutes.
Whether or not I or anyone else agrees with it, there is a sizable segment of the playerbase that just wants to pick their favorite companions and walk out the door and not worry about whether they prepared right. If there were healing spells instead of a fixed amount of potions or focus based abilities, I think people would be much more secure in their ability to react to the threats in the game world.
Is there system requirements?
Is there system requirements?
not yet.
hopefully with PC specs, they'll also announce the resolution/FPS for the console versions.
