Hunh, that's neat.

There's a line on the map that shows you where you've already traveled. Could be really useful when exploring big caves or indoor areas with lots of rooms to loot.

Oh, is that what that was? I was just like, "What are those colorful scribbles...? Why does that one go all loopy? Are there stairs there or something?"

Watching some of the youtubers play DAI.....is painful. One of the best DPS characters in game, DW rogue spending most of their time running around instead of killing. LOL.

So uh... why do these clueless and seemingly random youtubers get to play the game; instead of dedicated fans here from the BSN that would without doubt represent the game better by actually knowing what they were talking about? One youtuber calling Varric "that Gimli guy" made me really wonder if these EA invitations got misplaced / sent wrong or something.

Because people who follow DA youtubers are already DA fans and are going to buy the game.

The goal is to get new people to buy the game , it doesn't matter if those guys don't know much about DA .

EA wants the game to get exposure to a wider audience outside of BW's base.

Because that's not what EA are setting to accomplish. By inviting people who are otherwise unfamiliar (or relatively unfamiliar) with the series, they can gauge how well the game resonates with potential customers that aren't franchise loyal. They want to expand their user base for more sales, as any other company does.

Edit: Damn, it's a ninja party in here...

Makes you wonder about the state of preorders for DAI if EA has to resort to flying in youtubers to attract more sales.

Not enough. It's never enough. They want more profit to justify sinking in the money into DA:I, the more profit it receives the more likely EA is going to continue to invest the same amount of money in it.

and the more likely EA will authorize longer production schedules for future games.

It's all up to DA:I to perform well. No pressure!

Actually, I bet this is a relatively cheap way of advertising the game to its target demographic.  I haven't seen one television ad for DAI yet and we're only a little over a month away from release, but I know DA2 had them.  If all of a sudden a bunch of semi-popular youtubers post gameplay of DAI, that'll generate some hype on its own just by making the game a part of the general gaming-news dialogue online. Doesn't seem like a desperate move to me, more like a savvy one.

EA also lost a big part of their holiday lineup when they moved Hardline into 2015. They will want DA to be getting some exposure.

Inquisition is probably their potentially biggest hit of the holiday as Battlefield was moved into next year. No reason why they wouldn't then try to make Inquisition as big as they can.

ive been feeling a sense of urgency over the sales for a long time. I really want it to be a huge success, because then they will see that its worth investing time and resources to make a great game. The broader the audience the better the odds of that happening.

This.  I think EA is seeing how well a game does with minimal influence from them.  There's no Day 1 DLC, Inquisition had a much longer production time...they want to see how well a game does when more work and effort is put into it.  If there aren't enough sales, I imagine the next Dragon Age will be similar to II.  Which is unfortunate.  On the one hand, I really don't care what others think of Inquisition, because I know I'll personally enjoy it and that's all that matters to me.  On the other...I'd like them to keep going bigger and bigger after Inquisition, and if it does poorly, then that won't happen.

as always after people who don't want to see them don't look . some were critize because people who play it like a action rpg and i think the pause and play will be necessary on higher diffculty mode (not on easy or normal)or perhpaps for the end game boss like dragon ect .and for the question how many hour do you ifnish the game as always if you go one way with only story side i say 35-45 hour and the double and more for all ( exploration, sidequest ect ) one people could finish it on 35 hour one other on 110 hour depend how you play it

I think they're doing fine.

As other people said, flying in a bunch of YouTube players feels like an innovative marketing move that they're trying out, not a desperate one.

It's basically letting the game sell itself, with real gameplay rather than a manufactured trailer.

It's a clever marketing technique, really cost effective while also getting larger exposure. It's also better than a TV or internet ad because seeing someone play the game gives a far better impression of what it will be like to potential customers than a trailer.

As for a lot of the people not being very good at the gameplay: they are being thrown in at level 12-15 with no knowlege of the gameplay mechancs or their abilities. Obviously they aren't going to be very good.

Getting youtubers to promote their games is going to be fairly standard practice for big releases in the next few years. BF4 did it heavily, let them record footage and self-publish. But in that case they had a few high profile battlefield players (or at least shooters) with many viewers. Here it seems like they just got some big youtube names and ran with it.

I'm not holding it against them. Honestly I could care less how well they play I just like seeing gameplay.

Personally, I watch LP's for the humor, banter, and perhaps to see the Player's reactions to a game I enjoy (eg; Gopher, GamerMD83). Most of them I skip, pass, or avoid for whatever reasons including major Spoilers.

As for me, I plan on utilizing Tactical cam, and spamming Pause and Tab keys like always. This is not recommended for recording perhaps, but I have no plans to do so; world is already in enough pain currently....

I never heard about any of them. Based on the quality of video content they make, its probably a good thing.
