@Gladion20 No, assigning stats is not part of level up. They grow as you level, buy talents, and, notably, equip gear.
Great more loss of customisation and choice in building a character.

The devs on twitter sound really tired.
I want to buy them all an ice cream and a pedicure.
This kinda applies:

@Megin_Akoss @Gladion20 i’d be less weirded out if I didn’t know that whatever answer I give will have a 20-page thread explaining how >

Yeah, that would stink having your every word dissected. I guess it comes with the territory, but still not a pleasant aspect of their jobs, I'm sure.

More that the moved that stuff into the gearing system.

There's a bunch more tweets said to Hrungr and I, well more Hrungr, I was just kinda included in the tweets. I'm leaving it up to Hrungr if they get posted or not though
Assigning more stats after character creation doesn't really give you more customisation. It only lets you alter your initial decisions. Increasing the values of stats is just about gaining power. The relative distribution of stats determines what kind of character you've made.
(btw guys discussing individuals' states of mind, career decisions and the like does seem invasive. This is the DA twitter thread. Not the Laidlaw or QA tester thread.)
More that the moved that stuff into the gearing system.
It was always in the gear its just more important in DAI, and including them in the passive abilities is just a reduction in actual abilities. Its a net reduction.
I think Mike is losing his cool.
If he doesn't want people to discuss his replies, he shouldn't be making them publicly.
There's nothing wrong with somebody identifying a question as coming from the BSN (with the implication that they want to share the answer with the BSN). If he doesn't like the question or its source, he doesn't have to answer it.
And it's not as if only questions that originate from the BSN will get posted and discussed here, so his particular objection doesn't make much sense anyway.
It wasn't an objection, it was more of an inquiry of why Hrungr or myself don't just ask the questions instead of specifying its from BSN first. It could also be looked at that we are trying to force him to answer by saying hey look this question comes from your official forums, don't ignore it, which is never my intention

Yeah, I read them (twitter stalker that I am!). Probably better left off the thread, I dunno.
@devSin Think about the stress he's under and try a little compassion, maybe?
It would be getting annoying,
Making a Tiwitter account takes ten seconds. It's absolutely mystifying why people keep asking others to ask questions for them.
I asked another person to do it because I've been asking the devs questions over the past few weeks and I've never gotten an answer. Ever. When I asked someone that has gotten answers before ask for me, I got an answer as you can see above
. Maybe the devs prefer to reply to a familiar username or something. But that's why I did it.
Edit: Also super sad about the attribute decision. Spending attribute points is one of my favorite things to do in RPGs. What if I want to make a character that's like super weak in his attack and just spends all his points in constitution to be the ultimate tank? I hope there are a ton of passives that will actually give any kind of character you want instead of forcing you down a certain stat path (I'm also excluding armor because not everyone will be doing crafting).

Maybe some of us have drawn a line in the sand about what social media accounts we do or don't use? This makes asking a question a much more efficient means of communications if they really need something answered. I'm not saying what they're doing is right or wrong and can be seen as annoying, but then the people who have Twitter have the option of not reposting the forum question(s). I will say that I do enjoy following the tweets that do appear in this thread and is a useful tool for gaining snippets of information about the game.
Facebook is now the extent that I'll use social media (if we're not including forums). I have no interest in getting a twitter account, lest it rob me of more time during what is effectively my own 'crunch' time writing my honours thesis. Others will have different opinions on having a Facebook or Twitter account and I certainly can't argue for them, but that is one of my arguments against getting an account and will likely never get a Twitter account. I spend more times on forums than I do social media anyway ![]()
Anyway, I enjoy reading this thread with the information we get from the devs, the entertaining conversation that arises from stuff like the '#assquisitor' and the occasional off-topic discussion. That will be all I'll say on this and sorry if this comes off as a little bit snarky EP, as that is not my intention.
Edit: Huh, three posts in a row about EP's post, sorry about that! Hopefully we can get back on topic?

Yeah, I think that whole conversation is best left on Twitter. There's nothing there that really belongs in this thread.
They are in serious crunch-mode right now and I do think it would help if we eased up on the questions... ![]()

And a 4th.
This.
I have a facebook and twitter I rarely use. I get 3 or 4 spam emails from each every. single. day.
I can see why some people don't want to deal with it.

They probably feel they are answering the same questions over and over too, as individuals keep asking, especially those who don't follow BSN

The same reason many of us don't have facebook accounts, I imagine.

It's kind of funny the way things have changed. I sort of miss the days of there being active community managers on the forums for just this reason; someone just liasing with the community on a regular basis who can intercept and answer some of the more general questions so that people don't have to be bombarding the devs on Twitter 500 times a day. Social media is great and all but the forums are still a hugely active part of the wider community and it's where a lot of people still seek out official answers. Now it feels like we're just kind of some meandering raccoon horde rummaging through the trash for scraps and occasionally we make enough noise to wake the home owners and my analogy really kind of went in a weird direction there, sorry about that. Still sick.
If the devs are so self-conscious about this thread... why not just post in it? Come on Mike, we dont bite! (mostly)
Its not this thread he meant, it was the other threads that get created and then talked over and over again he was meaning.

@Gladion20 Notable because you can find, craft and upgrade a wider variety of gear with stats more directly under your control.
I don't really understand this. He says it's not part of level up, but they grow as you "level, buy talents.."
1. What does he mean grow as you level, wouldn't that mean when you level up? Did they just remove our ability to do it manually and now it just randomly puts in points into whatever categories DAI will have? What if I'm a mage? I don't need to put anything in Strength or Cunning maybe...Sounds messy.
2. Are talents like spells and abilities or is this a new system?
To me this sounds like having stats a lot less in your control despite Mike saying the opposite. Don't really understand why Bioware is changing things up so much. I liked DA's level system a lot. No reason to change it.
@Enad: If you look at some of the screen captures of the talent trees, you'll see that unlocking an ability might include "Willpower +3". So which abilities you pick will also determine which stats you increase. However, I agree that the level up system was something that wasn't broke, and I'd prefer to be able to go back to assigning my 3 stat points per level.
