Or maybe there's some source of Magic power other than the Taint/Fade/Lyrium/Dragon blood, which is only known to the Seekers of Truth.

The Seekers don't need Lyrium, but the templars do.
Why they don't want to share the secret of not using lyrium with the templars is probably to keep them in check.

No question the BSN is a much, much nicer place than it was, say... a couple of years ago.
Of course, it's all well and good until you're the poor CM who gets buried under a thousand questions.
I think its kinda weird Hrungr. My experience on the BSN has been 99% positive, mostly people tend to be nice and respectful. But when someone made a thread about the forum being nice people came out of the walls with comments like:
"This is the worst forum ever"
"Poisonous place"
"Everyone is an *A* hole"
"worst fanbase on the internet"
"You are as wrong as you can be"
+lots of more negative comments.
And that was the first time I experienced negativity on the forum, someone attacking a person saying this forum is nice.
Found the whole thing extremely ironic as the people bashing the OP saying these forums are nice, were the only "poisonous" people Ive seen here ![]()

I didn't even notice the error until you pointed it out.
Our brain is awesome!
(Totally referencing the previous discussion that happened a few months back about something similar).
I like the idea... knowledgeable, active Community Manager(s) would definitely help take some of the load off the other Devs. Of course, I wouldn't envy anyone who took that job. We'd be placing bets on how long it'd take the BSN to break them...
I'd say about an hour.

We should do something nice for Dragon Age fans and their friends today...

@AarynFlynn Yeah, put Anders in the game
Sounds like no Anders appearance in DAI, then.

It is implied that the templars don't need lyrium to use their abilities. The Chantry gets them addicted and controls the supply so the templars have to obey them.

Hmm. I would like closure but I can see Anders' appearance as a huge can of worms.

Let's say that's true, then what is the source of their anti-magic abilities? I mean, the mages' powers come from their connection to the fade but the templars anti-magic... if it isn't lyrium what is it? It has to come from somewhere.

Thinking back to Alastair's dialogue on the topic, he seemed to imply much of it was just training.

Only Alistair said that it MIGHT be the case and if memory serves Gaider has confirmed that Templar abilities need lyrium. Templar playable characters don't as a concession to gameplay. It is implied that the templars don't need lyrium to use their abilities. The Chantry gets them addicted and controls the supply so the templars have to obey them.

I thought Anders VA was already confirmed as having done his recording a few months back?
Though i suppose he could've been doing other chars ![]()

So, yeah. Lyrium might help develop the talents, but they don't derive from it. In fact, according to Alastair there, they're magical. Which is interesting...

What does it say? Using my cellphone so I can't see
For anyone else who can't read the text on the screenshot of the Cassandra's Templar spec, it reads:
" Long ago, the Seekers of Truth founded the Templar order and taught them how to deal with hostile mages and their spells. Cassandra thus possesses all of a Templar's abilities, without the risk of lyrium addiction."

Debunked, per Word of Gaider. Templars need lyrium to maintain their abilities. In the comics, Alistair starts taking lyrium again:
http://swooping-is-b...om/1286233.html
Even if Templar magic was recognized as spellcasting, it's not innate to the Templars, if they just stopped taking lyrium eventually they would lose the ability. Although as Alistair proves, they can use the ability for a long time afterwards. I think part of that was just the requirements of gameplay, for us to have a specialization as well, so some of that story doesn't quite match up with the gameplay, and I think eventually we'd like to work the lyrium requirement back into the gameplay as well.
