Hello @Mike_Laidlaw! Do codex entries give XP on their own or do we have to get the inquisition perk for it first? I want to max my XP gain!

(Seriously, though, who doesn't get a little thrill when a party member levels on a codex?  I mean, why should killing things be the only way to self-improve?)

Until you confirm the spend, yes. After that, you need to use a magical item that costs gold to refund all talent points.
