I never really noticed most of the companion-romances, not sure how much is there vs wishful thinking. For example I never even had Carver in my party, so what his relationship with Merrill would've been is completely foreign to me, but I do know that I had Bethany in my party every chance I got, and she never showed any interest in anybody, Sebastian or anybody else. Of course, that could be because in my games I would set her up with that mage girl that you rescue and then Anders almost kills. I send her back to be with Bethany, you get that letter talking about how close they are, and how appropriate it was that you were the one who saved her, obviously Bethany wouldnt have any interest in anybody else at that point . I do think I might've heard the Isabella and Fenris thing, that was awkward at best. I hope in the future that it can be more like with Bethany, we can set our teammates up with someone, or not, depending on how we'd like it to go, rather than just have it be 100% random like Isabella and Fenris. But of course the main character LIs are far more important than helping our teammates get with other folks .

I hope they let the rest of us know what was talked about at the Expo. I don't think it is fair just because I can't go since I live so far away that I should have to miss out on info.

That's not a romantic relationship. Bethany is Ella's tutor, not her lover. She even says so in the letter you receive at the beginning of Act 2.

Bethany never expresses a romantic interest in anyone but Sebastian.

That's funny cause it's thats very same thing i thought when i read that letter i was kinda hoping they hook up with each other

Yeah, not to derail the thread further, but... Ella is one of my favorite NPC faces; I even used her face to replace Isabela's default face once (I replace all companion faces on my playthroughs now to spice things up haha).

The Carver one is obvious enough through the whole game.

Bethany and Sebastian flirting (or, more accurately, Sebastian flirting with Bethany and Bethany being flattered) is in the DLC since that's the only time they can be in the party together and have banter.

Bethany: So, Sebastian... you're a prince.
Sebastian: That is my lot, Lady Hawke.
Bethany: (Laughs) I'm a mage. I don't hear "Lady" very often.
Sebastian: You think there is shame in being in the Circle?
Bethany: Isn't there?
Sebastian: You were made as you are. I have yet to see evidence of the Maker's fallibility. I certainly don't see any in you.
Bethany: I... oh my.

or, if she's a Grey Warden

Bethany: So, Sebastian... you're a prince.
Sebastian: That is my lot, Lady Hawke.
Bethany: (Laughs) This life is not... supportive of delicate titles.
Sebastian: To have a second chance, and one with such purpose, it cannot be a curse.
Bethany: This wasn't my choice. If there's something good or beautiful in any of this, please, enlighten me.
Sebastian: Well, there's you.
Bethany: I... oh my.

However, I think there is a valuable lesson to be learned there. A moral to the story, if you will.

When writing romances...DA2 was like...the male monkey. And DAO was like ...how the female monkey likes it. And seeing as how humans are so closely related to the monkey kingdom, I think keeping that approach in mind is a pretty safe bet towards success.

I am so excited for single specializations!! It's going to allow us to really focus on one type of combat and gameplay and it will also promote replaying the game to try different specializations all the way through.
Orlesian Chevalier is probably a warrior specialization.
Can we have a Tevinter Mage specialization? I'd so **** in my pants!
