Except doesn't Gaspard want to rebuild the Orlesian Empire? Political backstabbery is one thing, but supporting a warmonger onto the throne of the empire probably isn't the best way to create a stable region, and seems like a pretty good way to alienate the nobles of Ferelden.
The Inquisitor has bigger concerns than the sore feelings of a few dog lords. The Inquisition needs reliable solid allies, that's most definitely not Celene.

For the curious: the Flames of Inq pack grants you one free weapon near start of game, the crafting recipes for whole set later.
FoI cotd.: Prevents crazy unbalancing at start, but if you dig the gear’s look, you can make it amazing at later levels.

Yes, the starting “spec” you pick determines which weapon. Two-hander gets sword. Maul is crafting only.
