OK so I'm convinced Hrungr has an auto-post macro for tweets, because I clicked tweet then immediately clicked refresh on this thread and LO AND BEHOLD.
Bravo.
As a programmer I would be fascinated by how the build the algorithms and structures of the various systems being developed for Inquisition. Like what's the O-notation of your world builder system?!
Despite my computer science/programming education and pre-BioWare programming career background, that stuff like notations still make my brain hurt.
I keep seeing wall of fire - that's great, but what ever happened to wall of ice? Is that still around? I miss it. I feel like it'd offer more protection.
At the start of the mission you are warned to stay outa the water.. If you can.Wave combat is still in the game.
Did you notice the undead suddenly rising from the water? How after the player killed some, more appeared? I bet in graveyards, you'll have the same thing with waves of undead crawling out of the ground.
For award nominations like these I think there are typically certain restrictions/stipulations like, and these are just made up examples since I don't know for sure: game needs to have full access playable at the booth instead of just demo, or within a certain release window, etcetc, in order to be nominated. Which could be why some obvious titles you'd think would be nominated aren't. I poked briefly around the site but couldn't find an awards rules page to confirm.
Barrett, buddy! Since you're here! Cleverly acquire top-secret sales and marketing data on the Dragon Age franchise for me, I'm curious.
...no? Well, okay. I'll settle for salad.
THIS TIME.
I don't know much, but I've heard DAI preorders thus far are very healthy and promising.
Umm...
We should probably just
<snip>
and talk about Dragon Age and its relation to salads
I now have a new desktop background and/or locked station background for work.
You know Barrett, if you can record yourself at some point saying, "I'm afraid I've got some GOOD NEWS" that would be fantastic
That or go around saying, "I'm afraid I've got some BAD NEWS" to those you give bugs to
You've no idea how happy I am this exists. Haven't followed the WWE scene in ages but this is so appropriate for work.
If only debugging games involved flying F-14s.
If I were QA on Jane's Advanced Strike Fighter...
Lead Server Developer for BioWare Online Services - working on the Keep? Or that other super secret hush hush thing coming later this month?
I think? he's still working on the same thing(s), just closer to the majority of the team in Edm. I think? primarily game-related side of things, but BOS might do web stuff too. All the vagueness!
Am wondering which studios have what projects, has the warmer Winters, and has the better pizza?
Montreal is warmer, by faaaaar. It can still get as cold, but doesn't last for half the stupid year.
Yeah, as a fellow Edmontonian, I can safely say that Montreal is about a billion times better than here
I disagree for a host of reasons. Mostly "People will have different things they look for in a city and have different tolerances for the things they don't like."
*Lives in southern Florida...
What is this thing called "cold" that you speak of?
100F is fairly regular there, right? Try to imagine 50F. Maybe a touch chilly there? Now try to imagine 0F. Now try to imagine -50F. Welcome to Canadian prairie winters.
Level designer........also was a level designer for ME3 and worked on ME MP maps a fair bit....I'll predict that Pax is going to be the big announcement later in August and it will be MP.
Jos is currently working on the next ME game, too.
Can you remove it? Some are just a layer on top. If not.. ugh
I could, but then would just be raw crappy air mattress :/
I just imagine you going, "Hey Memory Foam you *expletive* *expletive*, here's a taste of the BARRETT BARRAGE!"
*insert GIF of you viciously elbowing memory foam repeatedly*
Pre-tenderizing might be a pretty legit idea...
I'm back to work after tomorrow, so work-related tweets will commence then! I hope to have another lil pass on DA before getting back into ME...
Allan Schumacher @AllanSchumacher
Game dev problems: *constantly* grabbing the wrong controller on your desk for whatever it is you're trying to do in game :|
This. THIIIIIISSSSSS.
Lol, I'm pretty damn sure Allan is fervently aware of every single tweet he makes. He didn't goof, y'all.
You actually give me way too much credit. I was engaged in an interesting discussion about people getting out of their comfort zone in games. I've shared in the past that I rarely play as a woman when given the choice. I also never play LGBT characters, but much like some other people I am more open to the idea.
When I made the post, I completely forgot that I had mentioned I was starting up a Dwarven character and that people would then take the start and the end of the conversation and take it as a confirmation that Sera is available to dwarves. By that point of the conversation, my mind was firmly in "Talking about my own experiences playing as a woman in RPGs, and considering the prospect of trying out an LGBT option and picking one of the characters available for f/f."
If you think that the tweet was intended to be a sneaky confirmation that Sera can be romanceable by Dwarves, it isn't. It's up to you, I suppose, if you want to believe that I'm being honest right now.
But it is a reminder that I should be fervently aware of what it is that I am tweeting, as in this case I wasn't. My confused responses were genuine. I figured people were like "Allan's favourite romance is Sera" or something, and when I asked "did I say something that wasn't already known?" it was because I had forgotten that I had mentioned playing a Dwarf character.
I'm not worried about getting in trouble or anything - in terms of Earth shattering missteps, I could do much worse. And to be clear no one here did anything wrong. I don't blame an enthusiastic fan for seeing it and running with it, because they are excited and honestly I can think of worse responses.
I'm more just wanting to clarify that I, as a human being, am in fact capable of making mistakes. I shoot from the hip with 99% of my interactions with the fanbase and something that may seem innocuous to me may not be for someone else.
Well, that certainly isn´t very comforting, tbh. After watching the progress of DA:I for over a year it seems to me that they need more time than till November to get it truly done. I´m still looking forward to that game quite a lot. There wasn´t a Bioware Game I didn´t like.
4 days before we submitted to cert for DAO I figured "there's no way the game can possibly ship like this."
2 days before we submitted for cert for DAO I was "holy crap how is everything so much better???"
Actually, my first thought was, "I could never work there." I mean, look at all those people with their backs to the room. I couldn't do that!
Of course, then my rational mind stepped in and reminded me that my particular programming skills would add nothing to game development...unless the Inquisitor wanted an insightful report as to the disposition of forces...
You'd be surprised, actually.
