Brilliant Microsoft, just brilliant.
Oh, also all the rumors about a Microsoft EA partnership were true, but it appears limited to EA's premier sports franchises.

At the very least, I hope this means that Microsoft's E3 conference will solely focus on gaming.

This wasn't Microsoft's E3 conference and since they kept repeating that, I had no reason to think they'd concentrate on gaming. With the way Microsoft has been advertising the Xbox as an 'all-in-one' device the past few years, I wasn't surprised.

A Microsoft press conference focused on gaming? Excuse me but...pwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.......sorry

You would think that since this was all about the hardware and connectivity they would have at least thrown in a little "And it's not always-on, don't worry" to quash that rumor. I have to think that the rumor will turn out to be true now.
Maybe you should have continued watching then. After it ended, Geoff Keighly did a QA with Dan and he said that Xbox does not require always on interent to play games.

Thats only partly true. Although it won't be forcing an always on connection, any game that uses Microsoft's new Azure Cloud computing service will require an always on connection. So whether the Xbox One requires an online connection to play games will depend entirely on how many developers choose to utilize the Azure service.Hawke_12 wrote...

That's only half-true. Any developer or publisher that wants to can put in some gimmick using the cloud and suddenly the game is online-only. Microsoft is now on record as saying this is what they want to have happen.
These kinds of anti-consumer tactics that Microsoft is pushing (and EA seemingly did a good thing the other day by dropping the online passes which was the first pro-consumer thing EA has done in years), will be the death of gaming for me. More likely I suspect is all of this will blow up in MS's face and the gimmicks will fail, like gimmicks have always failed in the videogame industry.
Gamers want good gameplay. It always comes down to that.

Not true. We also want nug romances.
I'm holding off too much judgement til E3, but I wasn't especially impressed today. Haven't seen anything that makes me want to spend $400.
I probably just need to suck it up and actually start setting cash aside for a decent PC. I desperately want to play some of the mods I've seen anyway.

If DA3 is for this generation consoles, then that won't happen. If its for next-gen, then no matter what they're going to have to come up with a new save-import method to cross generations, at which point I'm guessing we'll (hopefully) be able to switch to whatever system we want.

EDIT - I don't have much knowledge of the industry if any at all but EA scrapping their online passes and Microsoft announcing this seems too coincidental for me. Here is a link to clarify the situation

I don't know about you guys, but the "Xbox One" event really disappointed me.... It was really all about TV and not games. I don't know... I just was expecting something to blow my socks off and it didn't. I guess I'll be buying a PC this holiday season or PS4 unless "Xbox One" does something to really impress me..
ah men, I have a tv already, it just doesn't make me go oooo. What they showed of the car racing look nice, but not "OH WOW, THAT'S SUCH AN IMPROVEMENT, TAKE MY MONEY!!!!"

Big storm comes through and knocks out power for a couple of days, weeks ect.,whats going to happen to the now expensive brick?Anyway to "restart" the system? If not I'm heading to the PC.So hey Bioware don't make as many Xboxone games.jaywaddy wrote...
Microsoft have said you don't always need to be connected but you need to connect once every 24 hours. EA would scrap their passes cos with this the company that got the worst company votes can try and look like less of a bad guy. If this XBoxOne news had no influence on EA scrapping online passes I would be very surprised.

And E3 is wher they're gonna focus on the gaming stuff. Gamers will be watching the E3 stuff. Everybody else in the world..not so much.
So, basically we still have to wait.
Boy, but the doggy in that cod bit looked very doggy. And that submarine thing rising up outta the water...wow. I felt like I could reach out and touch the ice and snow--I think it was.
A gaming DVR, thank god. MP matchmaking that includes matching in regards to rep. That might be nice.
We'll see. I'm getting a new Xbox anyway. I've been waiting years for the new Xbox. Of course, it doesn't help that I dropped my xbox abt a year ago. It still does okay, but it's got just a bit of a gimp to it now...hmmm. But I held off on a purchase cuz I was waiting for the new edition. And waiting.
Neither ps4 or xbox1 reveals really blew my mind. Maybe it's something that you have to actually use to appreciate any differences.
shrugs
As long as its not crazy overpriced. Somewhere around $300 would be acceptable to me. And its easy to set up. Srsly. I don't wanna have to go thru any friggin' hoops just to get it running smoothly. User friendly
All the other bells and whistles, I'm thinking its gonna take awhile to get those running properly. The whole cable thing...will that include satellite, too? Cuz I'm not changing my whole hook up for that. I'm not changing my service.
That's wat I mean. User friendly.
We'll see.

Now I'm pretty disappointed.
I'll probably wait to get it just like I did with my 360; ~6 years after release. Until then if there's an awesome game for it I'll just live through the forums and youtube.
If DA3 turns out to be nextgen only then I won't be buying it until the new system gets into a workable price range.
