They did give good reasons. The fact that DA:O is held as a standard/benchmark for the rest of the series is a gift and a curse. No game will live up to it until it's topped. Maybe they weren't as eloquent as you'd like, but I certainly understood their criticisms and they said multiple times that 4 hours is not nearly long enough to judge the game in it's entirety. They went in with a cautious mentality which I can appreciate. 

 

They gave me the feeling as if DAO was god's gift to humanity. I mean, the game was good, but not that good. 

 

Then again, my opinion on Origins seems to be quite different than most people on the bsn.

This guy is annoying me a bit, he's kinda over exaggerating what you could do in origins and then comparing it to Inquisition.

I really liked him. He's absolutely correct that one of the strengths of DAO was that you got a chance to establish who your character was before the main plot started, and his comments about how focussed the game seems to be on the main plot is a bit disturbing.

Am I the only one who isn't looking for Origins 2. I am really looking forward to playing a DA game in an open world enviroment.  The problem with an open world is that you can spend hours doing nothing but side quests. If you think that is a problem, I don't. As long as the main story is engaging and the many side quests are optional I can't see the problem. 

 

I know for a fact that I will do every single side quest that I can and enjoy most of them.  I will play it again to do some of the side quests that were locked to me because of my choices.

 

I personally think that there was little story in what they were given to play because they didn't want them to spoil the main story elements.

Hey Mike. About the Qunari racial bonus, does it apply to all melee attacks? Do Qunari also get the flat hp or was that cut?

At least they aren't sugar coating it. I can appreciate the honesty. Now I'll know not to raise my expectations to Origins' tier. I'm just glad I'll finally be able to play a good story driven RPG on the xbone.

I absolutely cherish and respect these honest and critical reviews when done by someone who clearly knows the games and the lore who can almost see all sides of the subject. The reviewer seemed to also appreciate perspectives that I'll probably share if his initial thoughts and perceptions are indicative of the entire game. My expectations and hype have definitely been brought more into "control". At the same time, I'm really hoping he's wrong about the interactions with NPC's and your race choice not impacting dialogue.

Though the Demos we've seen have also avoided covering any part of the story, well beyond meeting that priest lady.

Also what he's saying about the cult is BS we already saw what happens with the cult in another vid but I wont spoil it here. He obviously just didn't do that mission and assumed there wasn't much to it.
