Don't want to sound like I'm picky but looking at the templar face in the background ,I'd rather not work with the templars.

The dude looks like he's about to turn into a zombie.

Also the main templar guy has a villain face.

No kidding.  They could have at least had one of the mages turning into an abomination to even out the creepiness factor and make the choice a bit more difficult.

Until now, BioWare games have been like stage plays: small environments standing in for the idea of larger ones. DA:I is very much not that.

They've always looked that way to me (that screenshot is pretty bad I'm agreeing) I think its the contrast of the massive armor compared to puny robes.  It makes me automatically feel sorry for the mages

Depends on the character. My canon Hawke sided with the Templars. My first Inquisitor is very, very likely to side with the mages.

I don't think you can side with the Red Templars.  The Templars you side with are normal.
