I don't think you can side with the Red Templars.  The Templars you side with are normal.

Well, The Templar in the left is a bit suspicious.

It will depend on the situation, maybe the black skirted templars are being poisoned by the red ones, but they don't look all that reliable.

Has anyone considered that maybe the templar's face is scarred because a mage cast fireballs into his face?

 

They are templars after all.

If I understood things well, in DAI we will see different levels of "infection". From human with some red bits on his body, to a nasty-looking crystal monster.

This Templar looks like he is on the first stages.

I wish people you killed in Dragon age would stay dead. Seems to be even if you stab someone in the face or in the back(Take your pick) they come back to haunt you.
