It did work back then, yes. Then again, DA:O is so deliberately different than its sequel.

It would be silly to be sold on a name-drop anyway. Of course one must verify with gameplay footage, reviews, etc. too see whether the game lives up to how it's spoken of.

^and to be fair, I was probably a bit hasty with my comment anyway. I don't know the context behind that tweet. He might have just been responding to a specific question that was posed to him, instead of shamelessly trying to stir up "old school nostalgia" to promote DA3.

@Mike_Laidlaw hypothetically is there going to be a way to import my ps3 DA2 data into DA3 if the game hits next gen consoles?

Ah, good, they are still dodging that same question... Ugh. lol

Well, acknowledging that there's even an issue with save-importing to next-gen consoles might be taken as confirmation that DA3 is being made *for* next-gen consoles, and that doesn't seem to be something they want to talk about yet.

Though you could take Mike's "being aware of the situation" as a bit of a hint, maybe. We know there's been some new save-import thing in the works for a while.

Well, it's a fact, I fail to see where the shame should be. Besides, nostalgia totally works on me. ;)

If someone said that the dude who wrote Jon Irenicus was making a facebook game about duelling kittens, I'd be all over it. Hoping for nighmare inducing kitten dialogue, but still ...

(PS. On world states. I've played DA:O and DA2 3-4 times each. I can't even remember what I imported where any more. I've always thought importing is a good thing, but I never really thought about it in the context of a 3rd game, instead of a 2nd, maybe.)

I like Cullen as a character, if he's in the party, that would rock socks.

Frostbite 2, eh? Good thing my system is built for FPS games.

Makes sense that the devs wouldn't be happy about how the X1 reveal has played out if they're making a game for it, heh. (and the 360 has been their largest market)

I'm leaning more toward EA is telling its employees to talk positively about the X1. Because someone who works in the games industry should be painfully aware of just how terrible the X1 is and why gamers would hate it.

I'm expecting a mini renaissance in PC gaming.  There are two companies that sell custom rigs built to a customer's specs and they're reasonably priced too and offer Windows 7 or Win 8.

I think the Xbox One is another huge misstep from Microsoft...along with Windows 8

I don't subscribe to that tin-foil hat thinking.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're basically lying to tow the line, no. Though it's not outside of the realm of possibility, PR being such as it is.

I was just noting that even if they're totally cool with the X1 as gamers, logically they should have a financial motive to see the X1 do well too, as their game's success may rely considerably on the X1's success. So that should at least be a factor to consider, regardless of whether it coincides with or overrides their other feelings about the console.

The success or failure of the X1 should have no particular effect on the success of their game, unless its and Xbox One exclusive. As long as there is at least one strong platform to sell games on, they have little to worry about, gamers aren't going to just stop gaming because the xbox fails, they'll simply switch to the PS4 or PC to get their gaming fix.

Don't think the console market as a whole will get smaller because X1 sells bad, people will just pick up another system instead. Regarding developers speaking negativly about consoles, I think they are careful about it simply because it's a source of income for them, why say something that might make it sell less.

I actually saw more Bioware devs that are highly critical of the Xbone - I just thought Alistair's view was interesting. I don't think for a second there's some sort of vast conspiracy to subtly support the console through tweeting.

Two or three other devs were pretty scathing about the new Xbox and what it represents, in terms of Microsoft's priorities.

For example:

Liz Lehtonen @Liz_Lehtonen 22 May
Really happy that the #xboxreveal confirmed for me which console I will buy. Microsoft seems to have forgotten 48% of their market.

Jos and Chris weren't exactly enthralled by the X1 reveal either, going by their Twitter comments.

The problem with these tweets is that they're so easy for xbox super-hardcore-fanboys to retort to. It doesn't take a genius to come with a comeback for this!

That is true, though I doubt the conversion rate would be 100% from xbox -> PS4 or PC. And this being the beginning of the new generation, I'd think getting people just to adopt the new consoles is important enough on its own. News like this could put people off, I see people saying "I'll just stick with my 360 and be done with it." Of course, who knows if they'll follow through or how many are like-minded.

I just wonder if it will be a open world feel like Skyrim with large area of free travel then PS3 will need an upgrade. I hated the auto lag save when the file of skyrim got above 14mb on ps3. I only say that due to this is still EA game and they have not been pushing the new platforms of xbox or ps. I also want to know how game data will be carried over as I want to see what the years of playing this game franchise gets me in next game. I still never got over the lack of service to ps3 on DAO many of us played saving Lothering and played bringing Sten all the way through with us and played all the little extras of each origin just to find them broken and scraped and jowen's role dropped once ps3 finally updated with bioware online. I just using that as example just want to have a fully working game to play the same time xbox and pc come out and not feel dumped on. Love the world of thedas book I bought lots of lore good job on that Mike and David.
