We'll see how E3 goes down.

I've suspected for a while now that they're behind schedule in development and this long period with no news after announcing the game has nothing to do with wanting to wow us with the reveal and everything to do with the game not being ready to be shown.

Why are everyone all getting suspicious all of the sudden? It's not like they changed their stance on presenting the game since the begining of the year. In fact, they sound totally copy-pasted so far. The people here have been their hopes up though, but that's another story...

And BioWare knows that whatever they are going to show/say is going to cause the BSN to blow up. Well, if they didn't know and just read this comment now they do. There's no way they can please some of the posters that live in here.

Because all they're saying for a while now is: 'It's awesome, guys', 'working on an awesome secret thing', 'DA3 looks so awesome', 'it's beautiful and awesome', 'wow passed by room x and saw that DA3 has awesome graphics!', 'can't show or tell anything 'till E3 guys, but it's awesome'.

I want to believe but 'show, don't tell'.

I'm mostly raising an eyebrow at the fact that neither Laidlaw or Darrah are going. If there were two i would've guessed were going that's them. Then that devs been saying that it's awesome and that they wanted to wait and blow our socks off with an amazing first impression. That they want to do that and not have two big shots there feels a bit odd. With that said i'm not going to change my expectations. After all i'm a cynic ^^

I have no problem w/them showing not telling, and lil hints. That's cool w/me.

What I was beginning to doubt was how substantial an announcement it was gonna be at E3. And if it is just a small thing and no real meat, but delay. That would make me wonder wth.

That's all I was trying to say.

edit: and the rest of my quote clearly stated--we'll see how things go down at E3.

There's not much difference if info is spread out across years with months of nothing new in between or more concentrated before release.
Sure we could have gotten a teaser a year ago but what good would it do us if we still couldn't see the game.

Because if it's coming out this year, we're running out of time for marketing and hype buildings. Especially with the new consoles being presented and such, there's going to be a lot of noise to drown out DA3. If it's not coming out this year, it makes a little more sense.

I don't know. We here are aware of DA3 and waiting for every little info anyway and they're trying to reach people who don't follow DA3 closely. Seems to me they have better chance with really intensive marketing a shorter time before release so people can go "Ohhhh this looks interesting" and "Oh look, it comes out next month" and then they remember to buy it. If they hear about DA3 and learn it's coming out november 2014 well... by then they will forget all about it...

I may be wrong but the way I remember it, info about DAO and DA2 also wasn't really detailed a year before they came out. At most there was a CGI trailer and a short story blurb and then marketing only ramped up a few months before release too.

Fair enough. Although I don't think me asking questions is akin to tinfoil hat....I'm willing to let it go.

Correct. It may not be different to us, the BSN regulars, if Bioware releases details and info last January, next week orthree months from now. After all, we'll have the information needed to make a decision before the game comes out. But to the millions of people who Bioware wants to buy their game who haven't thought about the DA series at all in a number of years (or maybe even not at all), it matters VERY MUCH how early Bioware can get news out.

Sure, it is better to have more than teaser trailer or misleading marketing quips. But having nothing now (possibly four to six months before Fall/Holiday 2013, the stated target released date) is making things TIGHT. The time to get in front of people who may have never even player a Dragon Age game (and wouldn't be following the usual avenues of DA news) is incredibly difficult.

I think, after DA2 (which I loved), I should stop following DA3 as soon as devs start saying how great it is, whether it's just comments or marketing stuff, before release. I really can't put my finger on why, but that really stressed me out, last time. In fact, I think I'm worrying in advance.

I can totally understand why they'd be proud of what they are making, but the mad intersection of passionate creators and disgruntled/hopeful gamers explodes my brain. It may send me to the loony bin.

PS. I remember reading some detailed criticism somewhere questioning whether more money spent on Kingdoms of Amalur and marketing would have bolstered the sales it needed. (As someone who formerly rolled her eyes at the idea of a "marketing budget" when other stuff is cut, that actually made a lot of sense to me.)

At E3? Probably very unlikely. However, if there's a trailer then I guess a companion might pop up in it like last time? Who knows.

The only thing I need from the E3 presser is what consoles it will be on. I can wait for it to come out. I can wait for footage. I just want to know if I'm going to be waiting a few months until I can play on my 360, or several years before I even bother joining the new generation and buying the game on my Xbox One or PS4 (most likely the One).
