The fact that Laidlaw won't be at E3 for a reveal that could make or break the DA franchise makes me suspicious. I still have doubts they have had sufficient development time. We don't know if the recent, in my opinion foolish layoffs mandated by EA have hindered the process. Guess we'll find out on the 10th.

Not really. If the reveal is minor and uninformative then Bioware and their apologists will say E3 was just the teaser. If the reveal is substantive then all it means is they put considerable effort into putting content together for E3, which they've already said they are doing. Even if they announce that the game is indeed coming out this calendar year that means nothing in terms of quality. The devs were conducting the hype train hard before DA2 dropped and no one would accuse that game of having quality to match the hype.

I've actually heard that the biggest spike of interest in a new game or a new album happens when it leaks. That's when the most google searches and the like happen, anyway. These things tend to market themselves at that point. I have no doubt that Inquisition will get plenty of mindshare on the usual websites when it's close to release. There's no guarantee of course, but I'm willing to bet that if the gaming community tends to positively review DA3 then its sales will be fine. So, as I know has been said hundreds of times already, all that really has to happen for the game to be a success is for Bioware to have enough time to completely finish their game.

Besides that the only other real obstacle to success will be what other games come out in the same release window as DA3. Perhaps Bioware has been waiting to see when other big-name games come out so they can plan accordingly. Anyway, E3 is just around the corner, so I guess see what happens there. If there's no news after that we should feel free lose our minds, hahahaha.

If literally nothing will satisfy your doubts about the game's quality, even a substantial E3 showing, why follow the marketing for it at all? Why are you still here if you're going to be suspicious of the product no matter what the studio does, says or shows?

Surely you'd save yourself a lot of angst (and typing time) by forgetting about it entirely until a week before it comes out, and checking then? Or waiting for reviews? 

You must be at the very least a little bit interested in how the game is shaping up, since you're one of the most frequent posters in this thread. I don't see why anyone would hang around for months posting about something they expect to dislike, or be disappointed by - it seems immensely masochistic.

They initially said that the hasty announcement had nothing to do with the survey leak(or the Doctors' departure) but in the last few months have admitted that that wasn't true at all.

My satisfaction has nothing to do with anything. I have theorized that the game is behind in development but I realize that nothing can really confirm or deny that at this point. I don't take BioWare's word for much. See my response to Dave, see Priestly admitting that telling lies was part of his job, see the nonsensical lies about ME3's ending, etc. Unless the game comes out calendar 2013 and is a great game then I will hold on to this theory.

Basil's right about one thing - whatever they do show us at E3 won't guarantee a 2013 release nor a high quality game (neither will it prove the opposite). Let's just... manage our expectations and take it for what it is; some new information on a game we think we might enjoy.

I'm looking forward to E3, fully expecting in-game footage and some info on how the game plays. I will be very happy knowing just the general feel of things, the atmosphere, art and mechanics. I'll judge the game once it hits the shelves, I can't play it sooner than that anyway so what's the point guessing about it now?

We'll know everything we need to know before we buy the game, and, if we feel that we don't, we'll be grownups and just wait until we do. This, the tweets and trailers and reveals and speculation, it has to be for fun, right? Anything more is just... well, crazy.

One thing everyone seems to be forgetting, though, is that the game has been cooking for at least 2 years. We started hearing about it back in May 2011, I believe, they only started ramping up production on it late 2011, mid 2012. I don't think quality, when compared to DAII, is going to be a problem...
