wow. scars are gone in cc and ingame. shiny hair, textures looking like **** (from ultra to low). great patch. really -.- not gamebreaking at all.

You're right it's not game breaking.  Can you still play the game?  Yes.  Did it therefore break the game and make it unable to be playable?  No.  Therefore, not game breaking

It has something to do with aesthetics  ... for me it's gamebreaking, because I can't concentrate on anything but the bad graphics and healing my character's scars is such a big no go for my imagined Quizzie. To each their own. ;)

This patch is terrible.

The game looks like trash on PC ultra settings now. Scars are missing, hair and armor is shiny, post-processing DoF and other effects are missing or worsened, grass and water have lost surface and shading effects (you mostly just see the ground now); I'm sure there are a multitude of additional negative impacts that have yet to be spotted.

I'd hope for a quick fix, but I get the sinking feeling we'll be stuck with this nightmare until January at least.

The game just isn't worth playing in this state.

Are most of these texture issues just on PC?

Those on other platforms, are you experiencing texture issues?

You can either play offline or you can uncheck the "Automatically keep my games up to date" setting in Origin (though I've never tested how well that setting is respected).

You do not want this patch if you're playing on PC, so do whatever you need to avoid getting it.

Yeah this patch is...weird.  Lot of weird stutters in performance and everyone's hair is so shiny.  There -seem- to be some graphical improvements in some areas.

Haven't noticed if my character's scars are gone...would be hilariously weird if they were.

PS4 version is fine with textures, but I just experienced a glitch in the Hissing Wastes where all my sound cut off - literally everything. The only way to fix it was to quit and restart the game. Never had it before.

So... it's definitely a bummer that things broke in the patch... but the new area search function is amazing and my character's boots don't turn beige all time. So it's not all bad :)

So.....I super hope that I didn't have 'automatically update' checked......*sigh*

When I open Origins, will it automatically start updating my game? Or will it only update when I go to start my game? (not home right now so I can't check)

(wait, unconnect from Internet then open Origin and reconjigger my settings....)

Oh well, if it patches, guess tonight is make more pomegranate cordial and decant the crab apple cordial night instead of playing. *boo*

(insidious plot by BW to increase our productivity!)

Although YUM! I think I shall call the Pom Cordial 'Red Lyrium' it's such a pretty color...but then, the people I'm giving this to for xmas would have no clue what that means......like having to explain why I called one of my beers BlackMarsh Stout. (maybe label the Pom stuff 'Healing Draught' nah they wouldn't get that either)

Those aren't improvements, merely differences from whatever settings you previously played on.

The game is defaulting to lower settings and isn't honoring the graphics options.

my character's boots don't turn beige all time

If you're on PC, that may be because that particular shader effect requires graphic options that are higher than whatever the game is locked into using now.

When I open Origins, will it automatically start updating my game?

Yes. But it's a 270MB download, so there's likely time to cancel it, and hopefully you can disable automatic updates and keep it from trying again.

...Oh man, game looks a lot worse now that I checked? I wonder what caused this...

...on the positive side, the 'a gift for bianca' wartable quest finally unlocked? x_X

The patch caused this. And there's no way to fix it, for now.

It should unlock after you get the search radius perk.

But I think it can glitch with the operation about the chalk markings (which also has bugs of its own).

A post made by Conal in another thread. Hope this helps

Hey Everyone,

We're working on getting a hot fix out for the PC graphics issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is a workaround you can try:

To start, make sure the quality setting you choose is equal to the setting set for Mesh Quality inside Options>Graphics

You will need to add a new command line parameter. To do this:

Through Origin:

  1. Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title
  2. Go to game properties
  3. Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

Through shortcut:

  1. Right Click Shortcut
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Under target go to the end of the field and type the command line parameter into the box

Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

  • Ultra
  • High
  • Medium
  • Low

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line.

It’s also important to note that pre-patch 2, all users on PC were being forced to use the Ultra shader quality. This means that those of you playing on lower settings will notice a decrease in quality, particularly players using low or medium settings.

To achieve the same visuals as pre-patch, users on lower settings will need to change their settings to Ultra, which should likewise be used in conjunction with Ultra mesh quality. Mismatching the mesh and shader settings will result in other visual artifacts like overly shiny hair.

Please be aware that changing settings to Ultra may impact performance on some machines.

Sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

No, it was a bug since I had that perk from near the beginning of the game :P. It instantly got fixed with the patch.

I'm going to try that command line and see if the settings look better. Edit: It fixes everything!

No Twitter comments from Devs on the graphic downgrade since the "Patch?"

That's not a good sign.

I wonder if they stealth fixed it.

I know it could interact poorly since the chalk quest occupies the same location on the map (it could get stuck with an infinite timer and act like it was already completed), and the chalk quest itself can misbehave (it can simply disappear if you assign Leliana to another operation after it unlocks).

Is it just me, but didn't there used to be an elfroot just before your first Tac-Cam tutorial? It's not there anymore. :P

So Origin wouldn't let me play the game until I'd downloaded the update. My only options were "download" and "cancel."

So far, other than changing my screen res (which I changed back) I don't see any problems.

There is some randomness to the resource nodes, including the elfroot (and iron) in the tutorial.
