He would share interesting bits of the development process or answer the odd lore question. I was intending to ask him about wther the Chasind and/or Avvar had developed metalworking or if they traded or what.

 

What triggered that decision? Because tumblr being tumblr, I'm going to assume it was an influx of vitriolic messages from people who forget they're talking to someone who is also a person, and/or people trying to win the 'I'm More Ethical Than You' game.

 

Even if he was no longer willing and/or able to read through the messages, I would have liked the answers he did give kept for posterity. :c

All those great zingers, and insightful comments about personalities, and tidbits about Lore and characters, commentary about the Writer's Pit... I do follow his twitter acc (though I'm not good about checking it) but who can have a real discussion about lore in 140 characters? I can't even write this reply in 140 characters.

Thanks to this thread, I now have a legitimate fear that we aren't going to hear practically anything about MEnext, DA4, or IP unknown until they are on the verge of release because a handful of loud, stupid people on the internet can't distinguish between developer chatter and actual freaking advertising.

The power of corporate marketing will overawe any dev reluctance to talk about the game. Besides, their feedback on DAI has been like 90% positive. One dinky thread on a minor message board about a misunderstanding really shouldn't dissuade anyone. If anything, it's just a warning to remind people even louder that pre-alpha means you may never see any of the crap we're showing you ever again.

There's a rule about things you don't tell a writer. That there is no coffee/the coffee pot is broken is one of those things. Let us all have a moment of silence for the anguish the BioWare devs are experiencing today.
