Well, based on DA2, "badass qunari armor" is composed of shoulderpads, body paint, and a sash

 

The body paint repels blades well.

(or at least obscures the blood in the patterning  )

Wasn't that Shadow Realms, the now-cancelled game out of BioWare Austin?

 

I didn't think ANY info about the new IP had dropped yet other than it exists and the Edmonton studio is making it.

I remember that briefly being shown at one of the recent game conferences, but I don't remember them saying anything about it necessarily being based in the modern world. But no, those pictures are not Shadow Realms.
