Not all of us have played Mass Effect. I haven't . With the poor job done with the PS3 port and all the controversies surrounding the games I might never play them shrugs. I think it's unrealistic to cite Shepard as an example. A better one might be developed from using historical figures from different backgrounds who spoke English but didn't sound the same. Basilik likes to be contrary . Have it your way pal. shrugs.
You don't need to play them to know that Shepard's accent is the same regardless of the backgrounds (Earthborn, Colonist, and Spacer). Youtube will suffice. And the only ported game is ME1. It had a few glitches (such as a few NPC's disappearing during cutscenes) but they were few and far between. Nothing that broke the game. It was ported quite well and I enjoyed it immensely (the final battle was breathtaking). It's still an amazing trilogy that has quite a few scraps and bruises and by the end, fell flat on its face but an amazing trilogy nonetheless.
Anyway, I agree with Basil, if I know Bioware and by Bioware I mean the DA team, I don't think they will only give us three background choices. Imagine if there were six to choose from (a stretch but a girl can dream) and if we take Bioware's word, these backgrounds will play a much bigger role than "Hey! I remember you and now we will never speak again!" route. I hope. But I digress. If there are six then imagine the voice actress/actor changing their accent to reflect different kingdoms. It can be tiresome, expensive and time-consuming.
Of course, the Tevinters, Fereldens, some Rivainians and Kirwallers sound English while Nevarrans and Orleasians sound French so who knows. In my honest opinion, I want the PC to be Orleasian with a nice French accent. I'm tired of Ferelden. Let's move on.
