If people without XBones have to wait until May to play Hakkon, then I hope Bioware releases another dlc in April that is available for everyone. Thirty plus days is a long time to punish people for not having a particular gaming console.

Not much of an apology to be fair. Then again the dev’s don’t really need to apologise for EA and Microsoft’s stupidity, they probably had no say in this deal at all.

I'll probably not even buy the dlc for awhile then.. 15 bucks for 5-6 hours --- and it's an extremely delayed release? Pass.

I need all the money I can muster for FF14: Heavensward, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD PS4, and Magicka 2.

I waited a yr for Skyrim's DLC, GTA 5 is over a yr and a half with no DLC announced.  A little over a month really isn't that big of a deal

They aren't punishing anyone. It's a timed exclusive, this happens all the time. You act as if they owe you a dlc. You paid for a license to play the game, not a guarantee that further expansions would be made available to you on your platform of choice or at your convenience. Next time you may want to read that EULA before readily clicking accept, you may be surprised by what you agree too. They don't even owe you a working game let alone additional content that follows.

Wait, wait wait.....are you seriously suggesting that if I pay Bioware 60 dollars, they don't owe me a working game?

There is compelling logic which I shall explain.

 

There are two components to this:

1. The decision to have a timed exclusive.
2. Today's announcement of when PS4/next gen will have access.

So:

1. The decision to have a timed exclusive was likely made a year or more ago and from tweets I've seen, a decision out of the hands of the devs and production team. By all means there's a discussion to be had there about why companies do it and why fans hate it. I don't like it, but it's not an unusual practice. The length of the timed exclusive I have no doubt was determined long ago and the May date was not just thought of on-the-fly a few days ago.
2. The normal practice with timed exclusives is to say nothing about the date they will end, until they actually end. Timed exclusives are meant to shift the product of the sponsor, through upgrades and transfers. That is undermined by sharing when the exclusive will end. The post I was reacting to said that there would be a bad reaction to knowing when the DLC would be fully open. I don't know what 'internal discussions' had to happen to get the date released, but I'm sure those conversations were not trivial. A less considerate studio would leave PS and Last Gen knowing sweet nothing at all.

I'm not expecting people to like the exclusivity (I don't) and folk have already been invited to give feedback about that (which they are doing).

 

But getting angry about having the exclusivity end date revealed as being May, only a week after the DLC launched, when getting such a 'head's up' is so unusual, is just a sorry reason for some more whining entitlement. We'll get calls for free stuff in compensation next !
