@davidgaider "I only did 3 playthroughs of DAI... why wasn't there enough content for 4?"

@Mike_Laidlaw (user) Yeah. Telling me there's "not enough content in DAI" is a good way to get my ******, Please look.

David Gaider @davidgaider

It's hilarious how some folks are like "maybe now that Gaider's gone we'll get a dwarf romance in DA". Because clearly *I* was the obstacle.

Just a heads-up, new Nvidia drivers are out today (350.12).

I noticed that Dragon Age has been removed from their "Known Issues" list in the release notes.

Its not that there's not enough content (though granted I'm sure they get those messages), its that so much of it reeks of filler.

And I want a dwarf romance. They're not even that short. Since at least Awakening, there's been attractive dwarves. Feel the dwarf love.

Carry on.

Well, now I just want to give them a dwarf romance in a way that makes them all sad.

Cori Nicole May @genevrael

do we ever give people romances in ways that don't make them sad?

David Gaider @davidgaider

Cori speaks truth.

I'm telling you, dwarf orgy. Or 'dworgy', if you would.

Mary Kirby @BioMaryKirby

Jepler, I don't think you understand what sadness is. Or you have a dark history with orgies. Or both.

Mr. Nhoj @eplerjc

No, see, you get there and realize you forgot to shower. Embarrassment reigns.

People's definition of filler is funny, considering the context of the game they're describing.

Well, who would Gaider say was responsible, then, for lack of a dwarf romance since he was, ya know, the head writer?

...and it's important to remember that the "technical analysis, budgeting & general harsh reality"-department, which the writers stand for, is mostly the reason for fun ideas to not get realized in a production.

Dave Gaider was lead writer - He gets to decide about stuff after it's been decided he gets to decide about it.

If anything, the fact that the flirting fling with Harding is possible at all, was probably the writers pushing for something of a solution that doesn't affect other departments too much.

There's plenty of dwarfmance in DAI.  Like, four of them.

Two points:

1). When asked about it, Gaider has not said, "Gee, we'd love to do a dwarf romance but right now, the technical/budget aspect makes it an impossibility." Instead, he went off on some weird rant about fetishists which he then walked back when people got upset.
2). If Bioware can do stuff like Bull/dwarf Quizzy, then the technical aspect is NOT the prohibitive one.

So, yeah, I mean I doubt Gaider is solely responsible, but he's at least partially responsible, and his tweet is irritating in the sense that he seems to absolve himself of any responsibility.

Hey, don't like/prioritize a dwarf romance? Fine. His prerogative. But own it.

You need a dwarf follower for a dwarf romance.  And they have always said they make the characters first, and decide from there which would work as a romance.

Now maybe there could have been another dwarf among the Inner Circle besides Varric, but that's a separate issue.

Scout Harding gets about as much screen time as Cullen and Josi, who are both romances. No reason she couldn't have been one as well, except it wasn't a priority.

Again, just own it. Don't be like, "Who me??? I had NOTHING to do with that." He's the lead writer. At some point, decisions and priorities he had a part in making precluded a dwarf romance.

She absolutely does not get the same about of screentime. She gets slightly more screentime than Dagna

Cullen, without his romance arc, gets very little screen time. I guess I never took a stopwatch to it though. Why, did you?

Either way, we are arguing about tangential stuff and not the real meat of the argument, which is that Gaider isn't owning, on some level, that he was partially responsible for the no dwarf romance decision.

I'm specifically talking about no-romance Cullen, and, really, no-romance Cullen on the templar path, where you don't even get his quest. You get a number of actual meaty scenes with him (chess, his lyrium addiction, the follow-up to that, the Chantry scene) along with all of his general MQ related advisor content, esp. in e.g. Winter Place scene.

You don't need a stopwatch to tell that this is more content that a few 3 scene conversations prior to each area.

Sure, in the same sense that everyone in bioware management was partially responsible.

Also, Gaider's comment was clearly about people who believe that he was solely responsible, which is not what you're saying here.

In the interest of not debating this, I concede that you are absolutely 1000% correct. Please note the comment should be stricken from the record. Please also note that that doesn't change the fact that Gaider, at some level, bears some responsibility for no dwarf romance, and his disavowal of that is disingenuous.
