David GaiderWriting Fenris again. Like slipping on an old pair of comfortable yet bitchy shoes.@user@davidgaider Writing Fenris? Oh? Special reason? <33David Gaider@user Not really. It's for a book.
I wonder if it would be for a comic book rather than a novel, given that a novel is a huge ordeal that must be done on top of work hours.

He was shopping for story ideas once they were out of crunch last year, and noted that he'd started a new book shortly after.Writing Fenris for a book is still big news, isn't it? But, then... I thought David was done writing Dragon Age novels. Hopefully he changed his mind. Hopefully it's a novel with Fenris set in Tevinter with hints toward the next game. But if any of that were the case I would think he'd deem it a special reason. So hrm.
He never said it was for DA (and he announced he was leaving the team a month or two later), but it seems that it will be the next DA novel.
Personally, I'd rather he stayed on the team and let somebody else do a novel (well, no, I'd rather he stayed on the team AND wrote a novel), but such is life.

Sorry. The mind races.
I hope Jaws of Hakkon releases sooner than the final Tuesday of May. I messed around with my file for the first time since mid-December in preparation! Killed another two dragons, I did. Tinted armor, I did.
I hope it's a 1000 page book with Fenris and Dorian stuck in an elevator.

Cool, thanks for the update.
I'm pretty into the idea of Patrick helming things going forward and I'm glad David isn't actually leaving BioWare itself but rather moving into the new IP. Still, keeping David on Dragon Age would have been aces, too.
I'm happy it's another book and not a comic! I'm just not much of a comic reader, and man, Asunder was a great read.

If it isn't, I'm gonna write it myself.

Marketing, seriously? Don't be naive. It's not that this is a "new" DLC. People are waiting for it long enough. EA doesn't need any marketing on this.
Considering the way they announced it last time with literally no warning, put a trailer up online and left it to die and then invited no media sites to play the game for review, it absolutely does need more marketing.
There would be millions of Inquisition players, particularly PS4 players, who have forgotten that JoH even exists. The way they handled the announcement of the DLC was awful.

There were no media reviews? So weird. I think it wasn't meant to go out like it did but something internally messed up and they sort of went with it.
There were a couple, but it didn't get as much exposure as if they'd spent a while building up to the launch day.
(And I'm pretty sure the press had to buy their own copies?)

So bizarre. I've never seen anything like it from them. It's possible they weren't satisfied with it relative to end-user feedback of the main game, it's possible the negative response to a temp exclusivity deal wasn't kosher with their efforts at positive post-launch PR, it's possible there was an agreement with Microsoft in which they'd be the ones fronting BioWare's marketing fees and Microsoft opted not to bother. It's possible Mulder was right, the aliens are here, and they've taken the bodies of everyone involved with spreading the news of Jaws of Hakkon's launch.
The truth is out there.
Or something.
