I took it as the technology they use to create the game builds.It's a software developement thing. It's pretty boring stuff if you don't have to manage builds.

Why do people tie Indiana Jones to "rolling boulders"?

Why not evil Temple cultists that rip people's heart out while they are still alive over hot lava?
Or ancient chest that kill only people that look at it?
Or ancient religious artifact hunt with puzzles?
Or aliens? (nah, lets forget Indiana Jones 4)

Because it's such a classic scene. However, I would like more puzzles like the one right before Andraste's ashes.
