Running parallel to the events of the award-winning Dragon Age: Inquisition video game from BioWare and Electronic Arts, Dragon Age: Magekiller introduces two new characters to Dragon Age lore: Tessa and Marius are mercenary partners, eliminating those who use blood magic to hurt others, but when a powerful patron employs them, they realize this next job may be their last…

Umm no that’s not really how it works.

I appreciate that you think that, but it actually is. It's still possible that they could begin another DLC after this one is released, but it would be sans any writing from Mary (which makes it unlikely IMO—she would've stayed until they were finished, especially since the new IP is still at least two years out). (And I think there may be at least one more multiplayer thing coming out, though they seem to have packed a lot into the patch.)

The new patch contains the foundation for the final DLC stuff (a bunch of qunari assets have been added). The save importer is released because you have to beat the game to play the DLC, and they don't want people to have to buy a new console and then play through the whole game again just to be able to access the final expansion.

DLC also don't require the entire writing staff

Yup.

True. But I don't think Mary would have left if the team was still active (if she didn't want to stick around, she would have left with David back in October/November). It's not a just-leave-when-you-like revolving door, after all.

It's already bad enough that Cassandra and Dorian only get substitutes for this final DLC; any future DLC would give us stand-ins for Varric and Vivienne as well. Rubbish; do not want.

Well I work in game dev and in my studio it works that way, admittedly it could be different at bioware. Anyway I was more taking issue with you saying she’s been removed from the dragon age team period, if the dragon age team needed more writers then they would get more writers simple as that. Currently that isn't the case hence her being moved onto the new IP.

Your mistaken. They wouldn't have waited until this DLC was finished to start writing the next one, they would have moved on to writing the next one as soon as they were done writing the last one (Early in development)

I'm glad I broke down and moved ahead with the times and bought that Xbox one. Bring on new content! I need it soooooooon.

And Xbox and ps4 have been out long enough now that you guys knew eventually they would stop making content for the 360 and ps3. I hate to say get over it but I worked hard to be able to afford to upgrade my system because it was important to me. Its nor their fault if you didn't want to do the same.

Writers are involved in design as well as simple dialogue. They need to be there as the plot is implemented (since nothing ever comes out as planned).

They're part of a team that goes from plan to draft to playable content. They don't just leave once the pen falls. Mary didn't write something so far in advance that the level and cinematic designers are just now starting to implement it (and which would now be somebody else's responsibility as far as the narrative is concerned).

Mary could have drafted something in advance, but it would be wasted effort to leave now (since some other writer would have to come in and see it through to the end, working off somebody else's plan).

Oof. I'm going to obstinately hold out hope that those qunari assets are for some storyline in this DLC that leads to the final, Qunari-related DLC. Stopping at 2 story DLCs for DAI would be a letdown.

I'm leaning towards a dlc announcement being pretty soon with the reveal of the save importer. Lol.
Plus patch updates that may or may not have Qunari stuff? I can almost taste the dlc.

Doing two part DLC seems to gaining popularity these days so maybe they can stretch the story Dlc out that way. The sum of the parts could equal an expansion sized add on.

If they did what the survey leak said, then that'd make a lot of sense. There was a lot packed in there.

If you'd hate to say: "Get over it", then you probably shouldn't. I can't speak for anyone else, but my games and luxuries budget is pretty tight on a consistent basis. Now, personally (as a PS3 player), I don't think this is the end of the world, but a lot of people are pissed, and I see nothing wrong with them being pissed.

I'm glad you worked hard to get your system, good for you (sincerely), but for some, $400 U.S. plus a new copy of the game is out of their price range, and it's really late in this game's cycle to make that announcement.

100% trustworthy. Why? Because He/She showed Zither before DLC released. (Mar 26, 2015)

I'd be on board for episodic content, but the survey would have probably mentioned that (that detail would kind of be important for marketing).

Hopefully it really is the last DLC and we don't get something like "Spoils of the Qunari" a month later for $5 along with Mark's note that DA3 is finished and thanks for all your support and stay tuned for... The future!

I would be annoyed if that's how they chose to bring things to a close.

I would not be opposed to an expansion work around. Lol. But I would need both released at the same time so I didn't die of sadness. XD

You're assuming they're working on the DLC one at a time. More likely all future DLC (I'm assuming 2-3 more at once) are in some stage of development. It might just be that all her content has reached the stage that she isn't needed all the time. If they do need her later, she's still working in the same building.

Then again, this move may have a lot less to do with DAI content and more tools with a need for more writers on the new IP. Her characters being simply moved to another writer, her plans would still form the basis of the writing and not be wasted effort.

Like I said, her leaving could be for a lot of reasons and needn't indicate anything at all about DAI DLC.

I do not understand why people thinking that the next DLC will be  the last? Because one posting from one online magazine? the author do not like BioWare/EA, maybe.

Until Mass Effect Pandora Release it takes some time, minimum 1 year, enough time to work on a big final Expansion Pack.

Yes, because that's the way they've always done it.

The only time multiple story DLC were in full production at the same time was ME3, because the Omega DLC was being done entirely by Montreal (leaving the actual ME3 team to develop Leviathan and Citadel, sequentially, interspersed with the crap packs and multiplayer expansions, which are handled by a different team, the live team, or sub-teams from the main team who can be spared).

More likely

You say this without any factual basis for the assumption. That's why it's an issue.

Because BioWare conducted a marketing survey that outed the DLC as the final adventure for the Inquisition.

Nobody knows for sure if the next DLC is going to be the one from the survey, but signs are definitely pointing that direction.

A.)  Well damn now I really can't quit my job or wait until nov to buy the new tv and new gen (have to have a HDTv before I can play on new gen), need to do it sooner I guess. It sucks since I have PS3, but it had to happen eventually.

B.)  All the people talking about Kirby leaving, they said before DAI even came out that they have had writers come in and help with their characters that aren't technically on the IP yet before.  So her characters can still be in the DLC or new DA games, they will just have her come in and plot out the voice/outline of the character again.  Patrick said they did that a lot in ME when he came in and some other writers moved to other IPs
