It is not. They realized they can't do certain things on older consoles and they've made a bold move...All for the best. Get over it. Complaining and begging for smth in return won't help you.

I don't need help. I'm on a PC.

But that doesn't mean I can't feel a great deal of sympathy for those who got shafted by this "bold move"

I sympathize too, but I also acknowledge that a minority of the fan base got shafted to benefit the majority's content. They aren't being treated this way because they're "less worthy" just less numerous.

Exactly. I m on PC as well. I will even admit that I probably belittle the hardware capabilities of consoles every other breath. But I m also a gamer and customer like the rest. So when publishers/developers shaft them; regardless of platform, I will sympathize them and support them.

PS: If they can sacrifice one party, they will not think twice to sacrifice you for the benefit of the more profitable majority. People who make excuses for such behavior r really selfish n shortsighted.

Where you are maybe, here in the UK there’s around a £10 difference on new versions, PS4/Xbone are around £35 depending on retailer, PS3/360 are £25. PC is weirdly more expensive at close to £40 on some websites.

This is also applicable in Romania. I thought it happened only here because our commerce is weird when it comes to pretty much everything, not just video games, but apparently it happens in other places, too.

Finland. Here the prices have been same for consoles since release.. and they haven't really even drop since release either. PC is cheaper by 10 euros or so. However I know that the price when DAI was released was same for old and new gen consoles elsewhere as well, not only here.

And notice I didn't say "owe" I said "is worthy of"

It would be the nice thing to do, at the very least.

I'm kind of with Iakus on this one.

I know there will not be an apology because that's not how these things work,

but there is some moral weight behind some kind of 'appropriate gesture'.

It's a pity that DAI just got caught in the generational transition.

I played the hell out of this game, my most played game of 2014/15.

But I have to recognise that the change of engine and the hold-back for last generation

all caused issues that stopped a good game being even better.

I'm not saying it's BioWare's fault, it's just a byproduct of change.

Oh well, on the tweets will be the urging, I'm sure...

An apology costs nothing, and can be beneficial given that utter Bioware/EA silence on the matter projects indifference to their loyal customers.

EA/Bioware are as bad or worse than the music industry that puts out a greatest hits package with one new song (that cannot be downloaded separately), and laughs all the way to the bank when dedicated fans buy the new album.

To expect last-gen customers to pay full market price for a game they already purchased is cold hearted.  EA/Bioware could easily offer a discount for last-gen customers to upgrade their version of DAI (to lessen their pain), but instead have chosen the short-sighted path of short-term profit rather than long term profit.

I had thought that with the CEO change EA was becoming more customer focused over the past few years, but now I have my doubts.

By the way, I own the PC version of DAI.

I own the PC version, and part of the reason is that it is more cost effective for me to own a PC over that of the expense of purchasing new consoles. My rigs have lasted 5 yrs, then 8 yrs, and the ones after that are still running strong. Now it is no secret that I cannot play consoles, but the expense is still less or about the same as normal console replacements. This is expected, or at least it should have been considered by the owners.

No apologies are required, though it could go a long way to ease any pain felt by past gen console Players.

If Bioware should apologize for anything to anyone, it should be to pc users for having the vanilla game bound by last gen and multiple features stripped out because of it. I love the entitlement some of you have, that they owe you an apology for your lack of preparation and bad decision making. No one forced you to buy the game on last gen insoles, and just because you own a license to play the game on one doesn't mean you're entitled to it on every other platform. Get. Over. It. Now can we get back to tweets?

Do you really not see the irony of your attitude? Old gen users are entitled because we expect content everyone else is getting, but PC users aren't entitled because you think your system is superior? What would you call that if not entitlement?

No one forced you to buy the game on PC, knowing that the developers designed the game primarily for consoles and then made a bad port to PC. OH WAIT, no one knew that until the game was already purchased and you had to wait for multiple patches for improved performance. Just like old gen users didn't realize we were getting less content until after purchase. In our case, months after purchase when a refund is impossible, rather than instantly after purchase when PC users could have said "no way, this game isn't worth it until it's patched."

It really just seems like a lot of people here think that old gen people caused the decrease in scope of the game. No...that was Bioware. Sorry for that, but how does not being able to predict the future equate to "lack of preparation and bad decision making"?

Hahahaha.

If suddenly the devs were all like "Look, you guys, we've decided not to release anything further for Xbox one or PS4 because it's just too advanced and unstable for what we're trying to do," then all the last Gen people would be going on and on telling everyone to get over it because we were silly for wasting our money on the unreliable next Gen consoles.

Just as the next Gen consoles are telling the last Gen console users now to get over it for being behind on the technology they are going to have to eventually get behind anyway if they ever want to continue playing video games since mostly developers are all going to stop releasing content on last Gen completely anyway.

Pc gamers think the dirty console players are beneath them anyway, so their opinions are moot.

Doesn't matter the subject, if you're not on the winning side, you're gonna ****** and moan. Wah. Till the next time you're on the winning side and suddenly you get all superior.

Yes, it's all about entitlement - we've established it already. What's worse in the long run though: continuing to support the game for the cost of inferior product and worse experience for everyone across the board, or sacrifice old-gen consoles that people will replace at some point anyway?

That's comparing apples to oranges - virtually everybody paid the same price for the base product and everyone should expect for it to be functional and enjoyable, be it on console or PC. DLC not being out for old-gen consoles is an issue, but it's not the same issue as crappy controls or DirectX error, which serves as a detriment to enjoy the base game, much less any additional content for it.

As for me... personally, I own PS3 and - at a time DAI was out - a dying PC (which I eventually upgraded). Yet I still picked PC version - why? I knew since Oblivion that big RPGs (arguably) don't really belong on consoles and also knew since PS4/Xbox One was announced and out that the support for old-gen - be it from game produces or Sony/Microsoft side - will be rather quickly coming to an end. It's wasn't rally that hard to predict...

Considering quite a few of the most vocal against this decision are "on the winning side", I doubt you are an exception to the rule. Meaning you and everyone else who are "on the winning side" but still complaining are proof to the contrary.

Agreed, I understand the business decision behind Bioware, disrespectful as I think it is. And yes, we don't know enough information at this point to make truly comprehensive judgements. If we ever will is debatable, and what extent we as consumers have an inherent right to make judgments is also debatable. Honestly, it's not surprising anymore.

I think what makes me truly upset is the attitude I've seen predominantly from community members who blame old gen users for what they consider a lower-quality game than what they wanted, and (subconsciously or not) thinking that this is our just rewards for helping to provide a lesser experience for them. I've gone through the stages of grief by this point and am not expecting anything further from Bioware. I just don't understand any consumer who doesn't at least empathize with our situation.

I...knew since PS4/Xbox One was announced and out that the support for old-gen - be it from game produces or Sony/Microsoft side - will be rather quickly coming to an end. It's wasn't rally that hard to predict...

And I'm fairly certain you are a more savvy shopper and watcher of market trends than I am. No doubt. I don't buy many games so I was happy to buy one of my few annual purchases for the system I already owned. But I don't know that I can say I SHOULD have predicted that current gen would have gone as strong as it has since launch. Of course it would have eventually replaced old systems, but it's not true to say we should have assumed it would have happened as quickly as it did. Bioware certainly doesn't seem to have assumed as much. You just happened to make the right decision in an uncertain market, which could have just have easily seen new consoles taking several years to hit it big in the market.

It doesn't cost anything to agree with the Bioware decision whilst still admitting that those on last gen consoles are unfortunate and BW could have handled it better.
