Multiplayer Weekend Event:
http://www.dragonage...nd-event-jul-17

Chapter One: Humble Beginnings (July 17 – 20)
By Varric Tethras
Knight-Captain Rylen viewed the new recruits standing before him with the sort of profound skepticism only a Starkhavener can muster. They were all green — so green, in fact, that they were attracting hungry druffalo from several miles out. The archer looked like he'd never been in a crowd before, one dwarf from the Legion of the Dead appeared to be daydreaming about the Deep Roads, and the Rivaini duelist seemed more interested in picking the pockets of her fellow recruits than anything else. Looking them over, Rylen worried he was about to send them to their deaths.
Agent Completion: Agent awarded a Commendation Chest.
Inquisition Completion: All agents awarded a Victory Chest.
This weekend’s event begins at 10 am PST Friday, July 17, and ends at 5 am Monday, July 20.
Good luck!

I'll put my money on reveal soon after. And my little inner cynic says it's a marketing test to see if release item DLC, release story DLC items are associated with works better than the other way round. Or it could just be I want new story and will come up with any old balls to persuade myself it's coming soon.

I nominate 'Baby I'm A Want You' or 'Sweet Surrender' from The Best of Bread soundtrack....

That... sounds pretty probable to me. I just hope they're testing to see what happens when they release item DLC and the associated story DLC on the same day ![]()
Seriously though, going by Bioware's usual DLC release schedule, we are due one soon, next week or the week after (Which is what I've been saying for four weeks now, so...

Yeah, I still have playthrough #4 to finish up (currently distracted by DAIMP), so if it's still a couple o' weeks away... I'm okay with that. ![]()

Judging from Twitch stream today, they may be preparing extensive beta before DLC hits the store.... which I wouldn't be surprised by, considering that we know they'd be doing stuff that older consoles wouldn't be able to play, which still leaves the question of how stable the things would be. They did say that this one's going to be pretty cool and they need as many people as they can get to for the beta... This is why I suspect we'd be testing some SP stuff now.

I would think that would strongly imply the opposite--with SP, things like having enough people in the beta to let pickup groups happen reliably aren't nearly as important. Plus if I remember correctly the round with the Black Emporium was the only round of the beta where only a finite group was allowed in, presumably to limit leaks. Not to mention the fact that this was on the multiplayer stream.
(Not to rain on anyone's speculation parade--if I knew anything about what's in the next patch I obviously couldn't be posting about it, and I'm still waving a flag over in the "SP DLC announcement is totally going to come with Spoils of the Qunari!" corner--it's just always sad when people come into the beta forums and are very disappointed that a given patch is multiplayer-focused.)

- editor tweets that Mary Kirby (Varric's writer) was an emotional hooligan.
- contest announced that involves fans creating new items and writing a story around them
- multiplayer event is tweeted with the line "Varric's tale begins..."
- both the multiplayer event and contest end Monday, July 20
Conclusion: Varric centric DLC announced Tuesday, July 21 ![]()

Only apter patch 5 betatesters DID test SP-related things for a patch that hit right before JOH. JOH wasn't tested, obviously, but changes to the game necessary for JOH to run - yup.

Also recall mentions of overheard VO work involving emotion, anger mostly. Could be Varric....
