Something that I find funny is that dwarves mages don't exist, but genlocks mages (if BioWare remember them) exist and they come from a dwarf.
I seem to recall a codex entry speculating that their powers come from the Blight...

Would they really reveal the origins of darkspawn in MP only?
I remember thinking they would never bring back old companions for MP only but then they added Isabela, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

But then every Darkspawn should be able to cast magic.
Everyone (except dwarves) has some connection to the Fade, but not everyone can use magic. Some Darkspawn are born being able to use that power that way, same way some people are born mages.

I think everyone knows how this romance ends since everyone wants a DLC with Solas.

That is ****** hilarious. Guess it's not such a great idea to host that scene by the wyvern pool in Crestwood. ![]()
(Probably a glitch caused by a mod, since I notice she's wearing armour instead of pyjamas.)

So, guess we know what shrieks and genlocks look like in frostbite now. lol And Emmisaries. Who seem to be escaped elven butcher/psych patients from Outlast...?
"but where did the darkspawn come from?"
I'd absolutely love some insight into this question, yes please kthnx.

I'd read about other people experiencing that. Its not mods related, I don't think. Its just if you havn't cleared out that glade before that scene. lol By some serendipity, I actually had, even though I barely did anything in Crestwood my first playthrough. lol

Go play Legacy (or even just DA2).I'm interested in how the Deep Roads are rendered, I'll admit.
Those are the Deep Roads assets that they'll use (you can also wander around the caves in Crestwood and on the Storm Coast and around the Hissing Wastes to see what it will be like on a smaller scale).
Christ, please don't let those stupid emissaries show up again.Dragon Age @dragonage

I think the game may put the PC in armor, probably because it's confused - on one hand it has to play a romantic scene, on another it has to load wyverns and begin combat ![]()

I heard them talking on stream before about adding a new enemy faction to MP. Adding the Darkspawn would make the most sense.

I don't see how they could, not with how MP is set up right now. Its not exactly a good story telling medium beyond "Ok, agents. There's a dragon/darkspawn/giant/nug horde in there. That's a threat, go kill it." I mean there aren't any real cutscenes or dialogue in MP, right?

No, we don't.So, guess we know what shrieks and genlocks look like in frostbite now.
Those are a mix of Origins and DA2 models.
The genlocks (and alphas) will probably come across identical as Legacy (same as the hurlock alphas did). They were solid designs.
The hurlocks were modified for Inquisition (thankfully). Hopefully they redo the emissary completely.
Not sure what the shrieks will be like. They got redesigned for DA2, but were never used in any content (I think the shot in that image is the DA2 model, but I haven't played Origins in years).
The ogres were changed in DA2. I'm not sure why they used the old model (hopefully they tweak the face from the new model—it was too narrow and weird looking in DA2).

^ The shriek in the image is from DAO, it's standing in snowy Ostagar in the Return to Ostagar DLC. I think the image labelled as the emissary is a miss-labeled DA2 shriek -- shrieks are elves, and it clearly has elven features.
Are hurlocks and hurlock alphas the only darkspawn we currently see in DAI?

To be fair, some of us enjoyed the friendship arc quite a bit. (Or at least I did.) I don't need a romance to care about/be interested in a continuation of that story. ![]()

The shrieks in that picture look to be in an actual location, not just some concept art. And its not a DAO shriek. If they weren't actually shown in DA2, then that's a new render of them, isn't it? EDIT apparently I was wrong on that. Nevermind then. lol
And that pic of the genlock looks new to me, but I suppose it could be from DA2 and I just never saw it since I didn't play Legacy.
The hurlock is from DA2, the ogre and ghoul are DAO. Is the emissary picture from DA2, as well?

Yeah, since they weren't used in DA2, I haven't seen them in so long I couldn't tell.^ The shriek in the image is from DAO, it's standing in snowy Ostagar in the Return to Ostagar DLC.
I thought they may have mixed the background, but that doesn't make sense (all the others are shots directly from the games).
Nope, the emissaries were just that stupid-looking and nonsensical in DA2.I think the image labelled as the emissary is a miss-labeled DA2 shriek -- shrieks are elves, and it clearly has elven features.
And the ghouls. Are hurlocks and hurlock alphas the only darkspawn we currently see in DAI?

The genlocks, genlock alphas, and hurlock alphas were added in Legacy (the shriek was done too but never got used anywhere). And that pic of the genlock looks new to me, but I suppose it could be from DA2 and I just never saw it since I didn't play Legacy.
I can't remember, but I think that may actually be a genlock alpha (I don't remember if the little guys got helmets). They were really awesome (they had huge tower shields, and the level designers made some corridors where it would look like a wall, but the shield would move and you would realize it was a huge alpha—and they would proceed to steamroll the party with their shield).
Yes. So gross. Is the emissary picture from DA2, as well?

So, guess we know what shrieks and genlocks look like in frostbite now. lol And Emmisaries.
Those are shrieks from DAO and genlocks and emissaries from DA2, actually.
The ghoul is also from DAO, which is odd, because the DAI ghoul is pretty horrific.

Are hurlocks and hurlock alphas the only darkspawn we currently see in DAI?
Yes, currently. Not counting ghouls.

No, that's a DA2 emissary. It might be a shriek emissary, but I have a theory that emissary's have been retconned into a separate breed of darkspawn.^ The shriek in the image is from DAO, it's standing in snowy Ostagar in the Return to Ostagar DLC. I think the image labelled as the emissary is a miss-labeled DA2 shriek -- shrieks are elves, and it clearly has elven features.
