I'm pretty sure Merrill will be back. There's a YouTube video done at the New York Comic Con in 2011 discussing DAIII teasers and when they were talking about character customization they used Merrill as a template.

Of course, everything is subject to change...

I'm probably wrong but I think that was when the DA2 expansion pack was still in development - it appears they were introducing more customisation in that, and she was an example character. Given that Exalted March would still run on the base DA2 game they couldn't change a whole lot, if I remember correctly. The writers were also hinting about more character development for Carver, Merrill, etc in the expansion. 

The companion armour customisation system has changed significantly since then (as of the last time we heard a lot about it, in April 2012), I think they wanted to rethink the entire thing for DA3 - and were able to do so, as a result of the move to a new engine.

She could still come back though, I'm not just sure that NY Comic Con video necessarily involves DA3.

Well the Merrill thing is just a gut feeling.
Because we also have Aveline , in MOTA there's a quest about her Orlesians origins which end up with a lot of questions.

Anyway one of the best thing about DA2 was the voice actors...I thought they were brilliants.
Hope they will keep this level of quality in DA3.

Or maybe the PCs are just annoying? After a few years together (without the rest of the companions as a buffer) the LI can't stand the PC anymore and resorts to pulling out the murder knife?  Maybe Hawke and the Warden were secretly slaughtered in their sleep.

Actually, watching the whole video makes me think they were referencing DA3, mostly - all that stuff about going to interesting locations and meeting people. Which is awesome, because that was two years ago, and it's interesting to see that the story was so mapped out.

Hm. Not sure what to think, though I'd hold off expecting anyone to come back - the cameos are always a really pleasant surprise in Bioware's recent games.

Yeah, I still feel Warrior Hawkes got shafted out of their DLC in DAII. Since Legacy had a magic theme and Mark of the Assassin had lots of roguish activities, Exalted Marches would have probably played on the warriors' skills.

While I know that they won't be showing that much at E3 tomorrow, it's good to know that at least we'll get something!

I could see that happening to Hawke, but not my Warden. My warden is too precious to me.

I just want to take this time to say that it has been quite a journey for all us since DA:I was first announced. Tomorrow should begin the stream actual information leading to the game's release and give us something substantive to talk/argue/slander oneanother about. While I look forward to actual info, I will always look back fondly on the almost nine-month period we had where we dissected every tweet, pored over every shred of info, and plain made stuff up about a game we all hope does really well.

But now the real fun begins as some people won't like what they see or hear in the game. There will be complaints galore about why is this in the game or why did they leave that out. Should provide us with somr amusement and an endlesstream of Nija Stans' end of line.

Actually I'm thinking about NOT checking into BSN for a while after E3... there will be so much hatred going on and whining, and complaining... even ****storms no matter how epic the reveal might be... not sure I can go some time without checking in, but this would seriously ruin my summer feeling ^^

They won't tell everything on MOnday...
They have (more or less) six months of promotion .
They are still working on the game ...some companions/places may not be finished .

The event on Monday is only about an hour long, keep in mind that they've got a lot to get through so I doubt the DA3 reveal will be massively detailed.

LOL This would be nice! I, however go into this with low exspectation *as far as the "amount" of  reveal we can exspect to see*. I figure it's best to not get my hopes too high and just hope for the best. Still can't wait to see what Bio is ready to show!!!

good discussions are fun... I agree... but people rambling about the same point getting more and more agressive over pages and pages.... it's just annoying.

Just imagine if they announce something that forces a new canon, even if it is explained there will be all hell cut loose...

So they can do dribbles and drabs piecemeal until Dec., assuming a Christmas release date. shrugs. I think it's unwise to do it that way. I don't think a lot of people will preorder the game due to disappointment in DA2 and ME3 but Bioware needs to do more to excite preorders and get the fans excited. Continuing to withhold info doesn't cut it imo.

BF4 is meant to get a full-on multiplayer demo, which will take some time.

Well... in my opinion a screenshot here or there to demonstrate what they were talking about and not showing wouldn't have hurt the company or the hype either... but that's just me and apparently they have some big plan... at least I hope so. Because as of now, even though I am a big fan of Bioware I am not even considering buying or preordering something... I wanna SEE first.

I feel like DA3 will get the short end of  the stick at this event. :s
Even the talk with Aarynn Flynn is really late and not even part of the EA event ...
I know DA is not a blockbuster title , but still it's a bit worrying.

The GameTrailers talk with Aaryn is a separate media thing, there are heaps of those for every developer. I imagine he has a few of them over the three days, lots of websites etc will want an interview about what Bioware is up to and its plans for future games.
