Don't worry I am sure BioWare will find away for rifts, astrariums and shards to all be in the Deep Roads... for... some... reason.

If Red Lyrium is still active? I think it's been pretty clearly shown in Hissing Wastes that Venatori experimented with using RL to open rifts - and succeeded. So it's probable that anywhere with large Red Lyrium (or just plain lyrium?) deposits rifts can open.

There's also another possibility - whatever new area we get, it might not be entirely in the Deep Roads. It be even more of a vertical terrain type than Frostback Basin in JoH was.

Maybe it'll be in the Abyss, and we can wave up to our soldiers in Griffin keep!

Well, there was that huge underground rift in the cave in Crestwood which was connected to dwarven ruins/deep roads, so I'd venture to guess yes.

Oh, how can I forget that? And Crestwood reminds me of the grey wardens.

Come to think of it, since red lyrium was spreading so quickly in DAI that it was popping out of the surface on its own, just how screwed up ARE the Lyrium Mines and Deep Roads around Orzammar right now? I mean, geographically Orzammar is right near the Breach...

Who knows what's even going on beneath the surface of Thedas right now? If red lyrium has spread to start infecting all the blue deposits, its now way more toxic to the dwarves who mine it and it can't really be used or sold to the surface either. The events of DA:I could really be the final nail in the coffin for the dwarves of Orzammar.

Well, the red lyrium had to be specifically grown from living hosts, didn't it?  If so, the deposits might be restricted to the surface... though given the way it grew in IHW, I kinda doubt that, it must be a serious horror show down there.

I thought it was spread by Red Templars not naturally.

They should totally put an Astrarium in the Deep Roads just to troll players. Player looks at the astrarium dubiously, then peeks into it and sees beautiful rock molecules.

I'm thinking it does, but it might grow beyond their efforts.

No, I don't think so - it only makes Red Lyrium grow and spread faster. I mean, if RL was only grown out of people, how come so much of it under the Temple Of Sacred Ashes?

As Solas said it - lyrium might have been drawn by (Corypheus presence/intense magic/Blight) and got corrupted... And considering that most of lyrium/Blight is underground...

I thought it was spread by Red Templars not naturally.

In Emprise, it was, but there were veins that were actually simply discovered in the Hinterlands by miners. The various Carta notes in Valammar talk about it. Varric also mentions something along the lines of "Poor sod didn't know what he was dealing with." when you see a dead dwarven miner corpse near one of the destructible red lyrium nodes in the cave directly in the south east corner of the map. Dwarf Son Valley, I think? Anyway, this was before the Red Templars are actually a thing.

That's what I'm afraid of. It did have to be grown from living hosts. And the spread started when the Breach happened.

I suppose it could be resulting from... darkspawn dying in droves to fade rift demons down there and bleeding on lyrium? lol

Or maybe some of the red lyrium we can see in the Fade leaked out into the deep roads and just started growing and the surface stuff is all branches from the same deposit? I mean, before this there was always blue lyrium in the Fade. The Fade and the lyrium underground have always had some kind of connection we've never had elaborated on much.

Or perhaps somebody who can spread the Blight, which in theory was contained in the Fade at the some point with the Black City, used the weakening of the veil caused by the Breach to leave the Fade and is down there wreaking havoc and infecting blue lyrium and/or killing people/darkspawn?

No, I don't think so - it only makes Red Lyrium grow and spread faster. I mean, if RL was only grown out of people, how come so much of it under the Temple Of Sacred Ashes?

I have a theory on that. We know there was lots of regular blue lyrium in the mountains around/under the temple. There were Grey Wardens with Corypheus, who are blighted (obviously). So: Explosion goes boom -> Grey Wardens go boom -> at least some of them go splat against some of the surrounding lyrium-> lyrium gets tainted.

I always figured it was infected when Cory's body got vaporized and driven into the lyrium exposed by the explosion.

I am of a mind to wonder why these dlc item packs have to date been so unappealing. Between the Avvar and Qunari item packs all we get is terrible looking armor, more useless mounts and Skyhold decorations that hurt my eyes. Dragon Age II had some great looking item packs, can EA at least rip those off?

Keep in mind that Dragon Age II had exactly 1 race with 2 genders for the protagonist and the companions in DA2 didn't change their looks due to armor.  Putting out new armor looks in Inquisition is an entirely different proposition.

I've been thinking along the same lines. Though, if blue lyrium can be turned red simply by exposure to darkspawn and/or their blood... it begs the question why there is any blue lyrium left at all in the Deep Roads at this point outside territory held by the dwarves? Or why does even that blue lyrium exist when the red lyrium idol was older than any recorded darkspawn encounters? Its been around for a while.

It can't only be exposure to the taint that's causing this red lyrium boom. Something resulting from the Breach upped the anti.

Well, red lyrium can be grown from other red lyrium, Cory probably had some, it might be that.

Another day with no news!

Not a total loss I guess. Upgraded to Windows 10 today and it feels glorious. Not only that, all my problems with Inquisition have gone away, primarily long load times!

Now to wait for tomorrow to see if anything appears!

I'm just waiting for a "The Stone lives beneath Orlais" tease.

At this point my mind knows it might take a couple of weeks to get the DLC , my emotions are a like 4 years old who's about to throw a tantrum.

I haven't even found a guild to join it people to talk to. Only annoying people selling stuff. But I've never done any of the group dungeons or anything.
