Well we were all complaining about a lack of build up for DLC with JOH so I guess they’re making up for it this time…

There is a middle ground from 'Oh by the way DLC is out now' (what I quite liked tbh) and like 2 weeks of talking about deep roads and related stuff and nothing else.

If they would atleast announce the DLC, that would make a world of difference, even if it's weeks down the line it would be better than the weeks of teasing..

I was reading that hype blurb and this stuck out to me:

These unfortunates, the so-called "casteless," are believed to be descendants of criminals and other undesirables. They have been looked down upon since Orzammar's foundation.

I wonder, since its hinted that there are things about dwarven history that have been forgotten, even by the Shaperate, is there some significant mystery behind the origins of the Casteless? It says they are *believed* to be the descendants of criminals, etc. Like its just an assumed fact cus they're castless and that's the way its supposedly always been, since the city's founding. But no one actually knows? You'd think there would be some record of it in dwarven histories. At least a mention. Like, I dunno, "And so the first king of Orzammar exiled the criminal element to the edges of town, where they and their children and their chilrden's children would live in deserved squalor for the rest of their days." or something.

(if my random lore tangents are considered too off topic, please tell me. lol)

For all we know BioWare is just having a deep roads lore thing going on atm and it has nothing todo with DLC.

I hate the person who came up with all this teasing.

I hate the person who decided to stretch it out over two weeks.

By the time DLC comes out I'll be that small, hype-less crouching figure in the corner.

By the time it comes out I will likely be that thing from the Sound of Drums in Doctor Who that ten turned into....actually no crap it was Last of the Time Lords.

Listening to the DAMP stream (I don't know why) and (I guess?) Canada has a civic holiday on Monday so DLC probably won't be announced then.

If I remember correctly, the Shaper in DAO says that the castless are stricken from the Memories, so there really isn't any record of them and where they come from originally. Word of mouth gets corrupted over a very short period to the point no one know where or how it started, let alone a thousand years or however long Orzammar has been around. By that logic, I have no problem believing no one knows anything about the castless besides what tradition says.

What's funny is that I wouldn't know there's any actual teasing going on if I didn't check this thread from time to time. I have to wonder how effective this marketing strategy really is.

Which makes me wonder if the origins of the Casteless will be something significant. They do seem to love playing around with perceptions of history in this series, after all. Maybe the Casteless could have something to do with those Titans we've had teased a few times in DAI.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer Weekend Event (July 31 – August 3)

Jul31-mp-weekend-article-header.jpg

Chapter Three: Rites of Initiation (July 31 – August 3)

By Varric Tethras

The agents clustered nervously around the healing font. Distant thunder shook the ground.

"Fancy a drink at the tavern when we get back?" the archer asked. Everyone glared him into silence.

The thunder came again, closer this time.

"Everyone ready?" the alchemist grinned madly and held up a small rock. "Philip is ready! Philip can't wait!"

The ground shook again, and now it was clear that the thunder wasn't a storm at all, but footfalls.

As the giant moved into view, the agents all knew one thing: If they lived to tell this story back at Skyhold, they wouldn't be recruits anymore.

Agent Goal: Get a combined total of 500 kills using the Legionnaire, Archer, Keeper, Katari, Alchemist, or Necromancer

Inquisition Goal:

PC/PS4: Kill 21,500 giants.

Xbox One: Kill 12,500 giants.

PS3/X360: Kill 7,500 giants.

Agent Completion: Agent awarded a Commendation Chest.

Inquisition Completion: All agents awarded a Victory Chest.

This weekend’s event begins at 10 am PST Friday, July 31, and ends at 5 am Monday, August 3.

Good luck!

I imagine the marketing strategy meeting went something like this:

Employee: "Great! So we'll get right on the promotion for that new DLC. Targeted ads in game magazines, gamer websites, maybe a trailer we'll unveil at one of the larger game conventions...yeah, we can do a lot with this. One more thing: what's our budget for this?"

Boss: (checks notes) "Looks like ten."

Employee: "Well, ten thousand's a little light, but we'll see what we can do."

Boss: "No, I mean ten dollars"

Employee: "So.....uh....let the unpaid intern handle it then?"

Boss: "Yep."

lol That poor archer's line is the "arrow in the knee" of DAIMP. He just wants to be friends, gaiz!

^Yes we do.

Though that gives time for the devs to rest up for a possibly exciting announcement on tuesday! Yes!? No? …………………….Maybe?  :(

I can't describe how much I love that Luka apparently has a pet rock.

(EDIT: Just saw that this is not news and there are two lines about him in MP banter... how have I missed these?! I swear I've heard about the mushrooms 5000 times, but never Philip.)

IF the story DLC is about dwarves, maybe they're putting out all this new info for those bunch of new people that never played origins? DAI didn't have quite the same focus on dwarven lore as the previous games.
