Who cares if they announce it today or not. Blah blah blah Wah Wah Wah.

Why announce it at all if they can just tease us indefinitely.

I think announcing it at a convention depends entirely on how big it is. If it's expansion-sized they could drop a quick trailer if they felt like it. I'd say there could be an announcement today but it could be completely separate from Gamescom, just something tossed up in twitter or on the website.

And yeah I know what they said about it being an expansion. They say a lot of things.

Its not surprising that people are getting fed up and a tad negative, BioWare first started to tease something Deep Roads related late March that was months ago combine that with weeks of more vague teasing and avoiding anything concrete when all players want is a definitive answer of when we can get more story in their story based RPG or at the very least a confirmation of what its about (look at CDPR for a nice example of a public story expansion roadmap).

BioWare is (hopefully) very much aware of what they are doing and its getting old, at this point the project must be in a state where things are far enough along to show or give details on, if not well we ain't seeing story DLC for months.

If they're working on a meaty story DLC and it's just not ready yet, I don't mind. But if you tease it on Twitter the day before Gamescom and you're not going to reveal it, I don't see the problem with them stating that directly, something like: "We will not be showing any upcoming content for Inquisition at Gamescom. The team's hard at work."

If "really soon" = a trailer at Pax later this month, then these guys have completely different definitions of really soon then me.

Not mad or anything about no trailer as of right now, but I would like to get this going, the teasing/hints are fun for only so long.

I really hope one of these DLC's has us using these Quarries and Log Stands.

I've got quite a bunch of them stacked up, and thats after fully upgrading Skyhold lol. I wonder if they were suppose to be used for cut content or something. Still, if we need Stone and Wood, I've got quite the stock!

Wow, the negativity in here is strong.

Things change a lot in production. While they have to have a hard deadline for a full game, staying flexible for DLC makes sense. So if they release a date, it makes that flexibility near impossible (they could delay it and anger people, or release on time but make cuts, etc.). Delays can occur even during approval, so it's no real wonder that they wait until right when they're going to release to say anything solid.

So, that established, I'm curious what people think is the best solution during the time between releases? Say nothing at all to contain hype? Give a few hints spread out over time rather than radio silence? Only hint when there's a few days left to wait before solid information (knowing that for months before, you would get nothing)?

We know something is going to be released eventually. As for the amount of time it's taking, it's not fair to compare it to, say, ME3, because they had multiple studios working on DLC, then. This time around, everyone else is busy working on other games, so of course it's going to take longer between single-player, story-based releases (unless you're ok with smaller, less substantial DLC).

I won't say don't get hyped, because it's fun! But don't then get angry at BioWare if the hype ends up being premature, or if they don't give information at an event they never even said they would be at. Personally, I think the teasing is funny. I'm looking forward to new story DLC just like everyone else. Fortunately, I have other things to do while I wait. *Is still backlogged on Steam Summer Sale acquisitions...*

I don't think people are expecting a release date, that I fully understand why would Bioware be careful. However, what I personally find irritating is this evasiveness regarding the content that has been going on for months. I would much prefer to know what I'm supposed to be waiting for rather than waiting for a cloudy concept. I'm sadly indeed getting a little negative because I want Bioware to succeed and I feel what they are doing now isn't very smart.

I need to get rid of sooo much Power!

I played last night and realized I still had like 365 power or something. I don't know if that's normal. lol. I also realized that since I went back and had to replay like half the game to get Blackwall's quest, (long story), I forgot to redo Bull's quest. lol. Oops! I think all I have now left in this playthrough is What Pride had Wrought but obviously I'm waiting to see if this DLC is endgame DLC or not.

Bioware: Too bad. There's nothing left for you to spend it on

Inquisitor:...not even furniture?

Bioware: You have to pay or play MP for that

I think its the lack of communication between Bioware and the fans that has everyone angry more then anything, I understand that they want to be careful but I feel that they are being to careful now.

If the DLC is no where near ready or still has a few weeks to go then they should have held off with some of the more recent teasers. Also not everyone who plays the game's looks at these forums I know i didn't until a few month ago. For some they just follow the main dragonage, bioware and EA social media sites so its natural to assume that a lot of people would have expected a DLC announcement at Gamescon.

So I'd like to be optimistic (i know silly thing) and hope the DLC is out this week instead of the end of the month or next month.

Same!

I remember back in Jan. they were at least thinking over ideas...

User

I'd like: a use for excess power. Make certain operations (gather herbs/coin) instant but cost power. Too easy to get power.

Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah

we are talking about ideas. Nothing yet.

Yeah I agree, this is getting as tiresome as when they were announcing the romances, it´s getting frustrating now

Unfortunately, I think the lack of communication between Bioware and the fans is our own fault.

We drove them away with our bickering, hate speech, cruelty, complaining, whining, bitching, moaning, and threats. I wouldn't want to come here either. Bioware's going to be blasted if they do or if they don't. If they release it "Why didn't you take longer to make this DLC!" "This DLC is too hard!" "This DLC is too easy!" "This DLC isn't about Solas!" "Why is this stupid DLC all about Solas?" "I hate you for not releasing this earlier." "I hate you for not releasing this later." "Why didn't you release this on last gen consoles" "Why the hell did you waste your time releasing this on last gen consoles??" "Why the stupid deep roads! Everyone hates the deep roads" "Why didn't you go to the deep roads! That's my favorite place!" "I paid for this deep roads DLC and Sandal wasn't in it. I want my money back!" "Why the hell was Sandal in this deep roads DLC wasn't he in Orlais?"Screw Bioware!"

The teasing was cute at first, not a bad lead in strategy, but that was the first week. It's, what, week 3? It got tiresome a long time ago. It would be a different matter entirely if they announced something and we knew this was leading us to something for sure.

Ah this i did not know, I had herd there was some drama over DA2 but I hadn't played DA2 (and DA:O) until about a month before DAI came out but wow I am far more sympathetic to Bioware now.

This I can't see how being this over cautious helps them either, *sigh* they are in a no win situation it seems.

Oh yeah, the forums were pretty awful after DA2's release.  I've seen people on these forums concerned that DAI's reception on the forum was negative and I always laugh because it's absolutely mild by comparison.

ME2 faced a similar negative reaction (Yet gets a lot more love on the forums these days, as does DA2) and none of them match the tidal wave of hate that was the ME3 ending backlash.

In general, I just assume that most the people enjoying the game, any game, are too busy playing it to combat the people who come on to complain.  Not that all the complaints were unjustified, but the sheer viciousness of the treatment tends to be far outside the realm of civility.
