I've thought to myself "No! I can't die yet, because if I die before I get to play DAI I will be so pi**ed I'll have to come back as a ghost and haunt the game."
Ah, so this is where bugs come from.
Hey Barrett do you know why downsampling is disabled in DAI? The resolution scaler only goes up to 100% unlike BF4.
ie Rendering at a higher resolution then drawing to smaller screen res? Unfortunately not sure, I could only speculate on reasons. Main intention for the vice-versa direction was to help performance for slower spec'd machines if desired.
Surely you have a copy already! Are there no perks to being a Bioware employee? Actually you're not allowed to play. Get back to work on MENext!! *crack*
Our studio copies sadly might actually be a day or two delayed (as they traditionally are IIRC)! Rest assured, the additional time I wait will be put to good ME use.
Seriously? I thought you were kidding about waiting to play. Even if I had a free copy coming I don't think I could wait another couple of days. I'm already walking around the house gibbering to myself "eleven... hours... thirty-five... minutes..." and doing things like putting my dirty socks in the freezer and trying to wash the dishes with a banana.
I know a good number of us have preordered a additional retail copy just to avoid any potential delays.
Why are your copies delayed? That seems really evil.
They're shipped in their own batch to the studio, so whatever logistics goes on with that can cause them to not arrive day of release. But here's hoping!
Barrett Rodych @ForgedPixels
I'm (only) just over 4 hours into #DAI and I haven't left Haven yet. THIS GAME
Barrett knows what's up! Still in haven myself.
Admittedly, idling while frequenting the twitter thread & forums may be compounding the time counter.
Edit to add: Very sad that there is no ability in the game to grab a screenshot without having to play in Windowed mode and then go to paint to post (I can't run FRAPs at same time, bogs my comp down too much)
Pressing PrintScrn button (regardless of windowed/fullscreen) should save a png screenshot to a screenshots folder, found at:
C:\Users\[you]\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Screenshots
or similar (can't recall if this path changed between Win7/8/etc)
I'll have to check the file. *duh me* Wonder how many screen shots I may have there (if any....)
I have been trying to hit print screen in full screen mode and then pasting into paint.....all it gives me is a screenshot of my desktop (behind the gamescreen) and not a capture of the gamescreen (again, full screen mode) windowed mode works for printscreen paste to paint.
Running Mantle? I'd be curious if Windows PrntScrn is DX based and can't actually see it. But hopefully you have your screenshots directory filled with captured wonders.
should never have left QA in this state
QA do not fix bugs, but we sure do report them. Also, this is not the thread for this discussion, there are many others open on the topic already.
I'm very very behind on all this, so excuse me if it has been answered, but has the voice changing glitch been acknowledged by them? Any news on a fix? I'm close to meeting you know who and I don't want my Inquisitor's voice changed.
So are ANY of them tweeting about the party banter bug that most of us are getting or are they trying to ignore it for as long as possible. There has to be more than that ridiculous response they gave us.
Not sure what the "ridiculous response" is referring to, but we are definitely aware of both of these issues and have been looking into them. Also not sure what all we may have responded in any of the many other issue threads besides this one (which are likely more appropriate and more closely monitored for support than a twitter discussion thread).
To be perfectly clear: as I said, we are still looking into this and conducting further testing.
I am providing you with an update on what we have found so far, as well as some general best practices. This doesn't mean that we are not taking your concerns seriously or that we are not looking into this.
This is an update on what we have found to date on an issue we know is near and dear to our community.
I'm sorry if there was any confusion, but please do not misconstrue my message as a dismissal of what you've been telling us.
The most frustrating thing about working in QA is knowing an issue exists but being unable to reproduce it (reliably, or at all), or nail down how/why it happens.
But...why does this happen? ...isn't the game the same pretty much, same software, code, etc?
Indeed, same software/code, but every session anyone plays is going to be different, one of thousands of permutations of which party members to bring in which order to which location at which point of the plot... (just as a random example). While some game systems can be deterministic and reliable, many more have a lot of complexity and randomness to them which compounds difficulty in reproducing or ever seeing obscure bugs.
And as Chala mentions, that's even before the vast variety of PC performance specs & differences out there that add to the compounding mix. If I had a nickel for every bug I've filed that's relied on the timing of a single frame...
Well, I'd have a few bucks at least. /rich
Hi James. Assuming you work for Bioware, I'd personally love it if you volunteered your tweeting time to moderating these forums, rather than just publicly complaining about it.
I leave the moderating to those whose job it is to actually do so. My tweets are my own personal content, where I comment on what I please.
TWO FENNECS SIDE BY SIDE!!!
CHAIN LIGHTNING!
I jokingly casted this several times when visiting my friends and they gave me stinkeyes hehe ![]()
Looks like somebody doesn't realize that EA is a huge company and sells numerous different games.
DA:I could have been a complete commercial failure and their numbers would have still been great.
You're beating this drum in multiple threads now. Please keep it in those threads.
The funniest thing to me is everyone goes on and on about not having enough large and varied environments and now everyone's going on and on about having too many varied large environments.
Trying to please you guys must be exhausting.
The challenge of frankly having a large and diverse group of fans.
Some may love our games for only a small subset of game features, and depending on how we do with those features and which directions we move in will either be supported and derided by any individual. Easiest example is the dialogue wheel, where those that prefer it talked about other things after DA2, while those that preferred DAO are upset that we moved away from it and are now focusing on that. In both cases I get feedback "why is there (no) dialogue wheel?" Good chance they probably aren't coming from the same particularly individuals.
True.
The balance then, is that the devs must create a game that pleases, challenges and inspires THEM and hope most people like most of the things about it, because you're never going to please everyone anyway. At the end of the day they just have to be happy they created something they love.
I think the team clearly has made such a product and that's why I hope they don't pay too much attention to the unproductive negativity.
I'm proud of the game. Is it my perfect game? Probably not. But it's the first Dragon Age game I played after release. There's a mix because I still have to recognize that "the perfect game for Allan" may not be a viable product, but I think there's a wide range of audiences and interest out there.
I really enjoyed the fascinating post mortem Polygon had with Jake Solomon (and Sid Meier) after XCOM was released ![]()

Ok, I can never keep these things straight. What's Blair Brown do, again? Says "producer" on the front page, but what's that translate to being involved with, exactly?
Maybe they'll just be talking about WoT 2 coming out. *pushes hopes down*
Well, I might talk about WoT2, but Blair never wants to talk about what I want to talk about, so he'll probably talk about something else.
Dragon Age @dragonage
Congrats to the @witchergame team on their launch. Great to see all the hard work pay off! #Witcher3
CGPR's reply
@dragonage Thanks guys. Looking forward to more adventures in Ferelden.
Crossover confirmed!
