Well, the strategy for dealing with the darkspawn in Thedas is generally "Keep them in the Deep Roads." If fissures opened up the Deep Roads to the surface, that would be very bad even without an Archdemon to lead them, especially with Orlais and Ferelden as weak as they are.

@user @Mike_Laidlaw @user So... say my most optimal save to use is after Pride and JoH... would that still work?
.@user @user Post-game saves will work just fine, yes.

A good question has arisen: What could threaten the entire world? A blight on Elfroot?
The stone beneath Orlais.
It's waking up D:

Varric is a must, Solas could be interesting (He had disappointingly little to say about the goings on in JoH and I'm not sure if I want to do this post game or not)
Cassandra's a Seeker, so she might have interesting things to say about lyrium.
Cole is always a source of interesting tidbits, him around all that lyrium could be very interesting.
Maybe Sera will feel something weird?
Dorian is Tevinter, he might know a few things about the Dwarven Empire given their ties.
The only ones that I think probably won't have anything interesting to say are Vivienne, Iron Bull, and Blackwall (He could know things, I guess, he has seen darkspawn before, but since he's dishonest about a few things he probably doesn't have much experience)
So, I have a warrior. Cole and Varric seem like musts so... I need a mage to cast barriers. Dorian it is then, if post game. Solas if before.

If not terribly obvious, I was working on the Descent. The team worked really hard on it, and I really hope everyone enjoys it.

That of course raises the question of story/ team preference once again. I might not bring out Kara's A team for this round...
Though I imagine it will be a little like the main game and we should have opprotunities to swap out parties as we establish camps.

I'm leaning to Varric, Cass, and Solas at the moment, but I don't know man. I'm afraid for Varric and he's going to be annoyed as **** with me if I take him.

That would be optimal, but I'm not so sure, considering the emphasis that this is a dungeon.
(And I don't like switching up my party once I enter an area, it interferes with my immersion. I'm persnickety like that)

I don't think there is a "best team" for this mission, simply because all your companions, with the exception of Varric, has not had much exposure to the Deep Roads. Plus Varric hates the Deep Roads.
Personally, I would go with Solas, Cole, and Iron Bull. Solas will go anywhere given if there is something interesting to learn and to ask questions about. Cole does not complain about going anywhere except the Fade. Iron Bull only complains if there is demons involved and this is Darkspawn.

Very persnickity.
I just headcanon the whole Inner Circle follows you around wherever you go and are at the camps in whatever area you are in and then get summoned as needed.

Why they always use phrases like "Reveal a secret that will shake the world to its core"?
If I get 1 euro for each time the gaming industry use this phrases I would have enough to buy Dragon Age 4.

I think this will be a dungeon in the same way DAO's Deep Roads was a dungeon. I know this one is one giant dungeon but I am sure there will be points of return, especially early on at the surface levels.

And Crap...I just realized my planned party for this is lacking barrier support. And the only mage I have post game is Dorian...oh crap and i need to talk to my Madama Victoria and get her to stay.

So what, the video game industry has only said this sixty times then?
