IDK upon playing the Witcher 3 (still playing through the Witcher 3) I had no idea how much I actually missed cut scenes in all convos.  Its one of those things you do not realize how much you miss until you find it again.  And they are so well animated...and directed too!  Really adds to the game as a whole.

BUT

That being said on the other hand it was not impossible to relate to the characters I did third party interaction with in Dragon Age.  Jaws of Hakkon was especially noticable, for some reason they did a much better job in that DLC in immersing me in those conversations.  So I can take either way.

Hopefully when they make DA4, they'll do the conversations in away that will please everybody.

....

(with this fandom :P )  Impossible!

You might have a point if any Bioware (or even Bethesda) games had anywhere near convincing facial animation for those small conversations. There really is no emotion to see.

Indeed.  And it saves an enormous amount of very labor-intensive animation.  I'm pretty happy with the cutscene ratio in Inquisition, and they were GOOD cut scenes, not just talking heads like in Origins (most of the "cut scene" conversations in Origins were less-well-animated than the NON-cut scene conversations in DA:I).  They could stand to zoom in a little closer, though.

Witcher 3 have a lot of dialogue and all conversation are cutscenes, so I disagree with you.

Witcher 3 doesn't have 4 distinct protagonist voice options, 8 possible protagonist body models, and half a dozen companions you can flat out refuse to recruit.  All games are not the same.  Witcher 3 does not have the kind of technical challenges DA games have had from the beginning.  Plus, how many of those cut scenes are "zoom in, shot/reverse shot" with some canned animations?  That's Dragon Age: Origins level tech. :P

It seems or appears based on....? Opinion? Complaint threads? The weight of a duck? nevermind....

You anyway m already answered you own question in a previous post.

Might have missed this earlier vid; also has some TW3 footage:

Yep, thats a excellent rebuttal, you changed my perspective.

The critical difference, however, is that the witcher 3 only has one character model that they have to worry about for cutscenes (Geralt), whereas DA:I has 8 (Male/Female Dwarf, Human, Elf, and Qunari).  That amount creates a significant amount of work for people like John Epler, who have to make sure that every character model works and reacts in the correct manner depending on the scene (Iron Bull and a dwarf romance, for instance).

The game still suffered because of that, I'm not going to justify BW mistake, if they couldn't pull it off they shouldn't have done it.
Hopefully ME will change back to the "Cinematic Experience".

And in the end it had more immersive conversation than DA:I.
It doesn't in anyway excuse BW.

I just have to say earlier I thought I had covered all of the arguments and bitchfests people would start when the DLC was announced but it seems you guys have come up with some original ideas!

Yes, and now I'm hoping they'll take it out of the Twitter thread because Mike Laidlaw is in damn good form today and it's kind of annoying to have to fight my way past the bickering to get to the fun tweets.

I love that Mike is willing to talk about things. Things that perhaps were not as well received as they had hoped. I really like that down to earth kind of straight forward-ness.

I did chuckle at the part where he said about leaving convo's seamlessly, "Few people seemed intrigued by that." lol. Well, I mean, on my first pt I drink up all the dialogue and info I  can. I have no reason to bail mid sentence on a npc.

Subsequent pt's I already have an idea what I'm getting into, and the "Farewell" option is pretty prevalent. So, again I have no need to bail.

I've done it maybe a handful of times. It feels a little..rude. And one time I'm pretty sure some guy in Val Royeaux shouted after me, "Fine then!" lol! But usually they go on like I have not just disrespected them immensely.

Dunno; my first Inq bailed on the Requisition Officer a lot. My second Inq simply accepted an order, then left it incomplete.

I get approached by by one almost every time one departs a camp site. If there is a Requisition available, they will ask to speak with the Inq. And if I am far enough away, just keep moving....

So did anyone else notice in the trailer the mage Inquisitor hitting a darkspawn with her staff? And then backhanding another with her fist? Cause I did. I think they may have brought back the close combat mage fighting like in DA2.

Meet the Kal Sharok dwarves! :D

Spoiler

Spoiler

I had a thought. What if these dwarfs are taken over by blue lyrium. Bianca said during Varric's quest that lyrium is alive. I think that will play a mayor role in the DLC.

What I noticed in the trailer is a distinct lack of red lyrium. I found its absence interesting.

I think this is going to be heavily focusing on lyrium and in the way the darkspawn might be something minor.

Maybe the breach has made Lyrium sentient again (if it is or ever was) and now its using dwarves as its minions to take over the deep roads it would be an interesting way to shake the usual deep roads missions up at least.

I more interested in the trees. Trees, underground, with no light, little water and tainted creatures that spread a poison that kills/corrupts everything it touches. Me thinks the elves are involved, or lyrium is one of those minerals that sticks a middle fiddle up at the laws of reality and can do whatever it wants.

Yeah maybe the secret has something to do with a connection between the elven pantheon and the old gods? That way this DLC could be used to further hint at things to come even though you can play it whenever you want more or less.

I know a lot of people are angry that we get so much elven content, but please let there be elves involved! :D

The only area with trees I saw looked like it was open to the air.

As has been made clear from this thread and a thousand others, people will find any excuse to be bitter and unhappy.

Everyone: "I want trees!"

*everyone is provided trees*

Everyone: "Those trees aren't green enough!"

                  "Those trees aren't tall enough!"

"I wanted PINE trees, not OAK trees!"
