Am I missing something?
Patrick Weekes@PatrickWeekes: @User Like... Orlesian Imperialism? Tevinter? Or do you mean intruding into someone else's land?
@user: @PatrickWeekes @User Yeah. We killed a lot of folks. :\
Patrick Weekes@PatrickWeekes: @user @User Fair point! Intention was them killing someone w/o even trying to talk made them bad enough to be okay fighting.
Patrick Weekes@PatrickWeekes: @user @User And also, earthquakes threatening countless lives.
Patrick Weekes@PatrickWeekes: @user @User But if it came off as imperialist, well, that's something we will try to do better on in the future.
@User: @PatrickWeekes @user that last tweet was sarcastic. But it did indeed feel extremely hostile and like I was a colony or something.
Patrick Weekes@PatrickWeekes: @User @user Fair! We were hoping the intro cutscene would sell them as not just dangerous but alien and hostile.
@User: @PatrickWeekes @user anyway thanks for listening to my semi rant. i appreciate it.
Patrick Weekes@PatrickWeekes: @User @user Hey, like I said, it's a totally valid viewpoint we hadn't considered, and we will try harder next time.

@User: What was with that strong sense of Imperialism in the Descent DLC? @PatrickWeekes

Yeah I seriously felt like an Imperialist in this DLC.... are you serious? SMH I hope Patrick discards this bit of feedback into the trash. I now know what the next DLC will be, Spoils of the Kid Gloves.

@User: @Mike_Laidlaw Solas's voice in The Descent doesn't sound right, did someone else voice certain lines in the DLC for him? Driving me insane!
Mike Laidlaw@Mike_Laidlaw: @User Nope.
I thought his voice sounded a bit off. Maybe he was sick on the one day they needed to record the few lines.

I don't know if "imperialist" is the correct term, but I definitely felt a bit weird about it. We were intruding onto their domain, and as far as they knew, the only things that probably came at them like that were Darkspawn. Honestly, I kept expecting for them to finally give up and try talking to me, like the werewolves in Origins. That's what RPGs are for, right? Talking to the monsters? I seem to recall that one of the codexes from the end put this to rest for me a little, describing their corruption and society as something pretty unpleasant, but still... we found a third living society of dwarves, and all we can do is murder them.
Anyway people are getting really sensitive about pretty much everything .

This.
I've seen people complain about the violence in Bioware games and I just don't understand. They give you more options than most games to avoid killing others, at least but I've seen those who desire wanting Even less so I'm not surprised people are boohooing about the dlc seriously.

Just make the next DLC the last one. Then they can start working on the next game if they haven't already...
The DLC team and main game team are not all the same team. I don't think the DLC limits them very much in terms of people or resources... Probably more money than anything. The DLC team is smaller. While it has several members from the main game team on it, it's not nearly as large.
Going by what I know of general game development, they would've started working on DA4 (and by "work on" I mean writing or conceptual idea planning) ages ago. Andromeda was well underway before the Citadel DLC was finished, and they started the DLC before ME3 was even out right?

FFS.
DO NOT POST SPOILERS HERE.
EP, I wonder if there's any way we would write a nice letter to Conal (if he's indeed the "community manager" now), imploring him to make some much needed changes to these boards? The moderating is like spotty internet service, nobody ever responds to any requests, concerns, or issues, and it's just plain non-welcoming. There has to be a solution besides leave it alone and watch it burn itself down, right? I mean, it's unlikely anyone would even bother coming to add a spoiler, and unless the poster does him or herself, it's just there no matter what.

I PM'd Conal but he hasn't been on the forum in three days. (Fair enough, since it's the weekend, but none of the other mods seem to be active either.)

What if we put it in spoiler tags?
#81423
Posté 17 août 2015 - 04:40
Sorry for snapping but people were putting story details and the new enemy types outside spoiler tags, and even the stuff INSIDE the tags absolutely didn't need to be discussed here.
I know it's hard when the content of dev tweets is spoilery, but really: this should be a place that's free of The Descent spoilers, at least for a while. There's a whole other forum to talk about it.

This is so very true. Mike is a wise man.Mike Laidlaw@Mike_Laidlaw: @user No. It’s a responsibility to keep that stuff straight and deliver it well. Smug creators are too in love with their own stuff.

Maybe I could get an email address for him and interested parties could draft up a formal note to him all official like? Because I think there ARE people who want this forum to be a safe place to come and interact with other fans and developers in a positive environment. I'm all for rules but they can't be wishy-washy about enforcing them. It needs a complete overhaul and all the current moderators need fired.
If we had a major overhaul of our system to make it more user-friendly with more swift enforcement of rules that matter (this swearing nonsense is nonsense), then maybe even the developers would start to come back. Isn't that what most of us would like? If they felt safe and comfortable returning to have meaningful interactions with the fans again? This place is a cesspool sometimes and it wouldn't take much to whip it back into shape so that we could go back to the way we used to be.
