I don't know if "imperialist" is the correct term, but I definitely felt a bit weird about it.  We were intruding onto their domain, and as far as they knew, the only things that probably came at them like that were Darkspawn.  Honestly, I kept expecting for them to finally give up and try talking to me, like the werewolves in Origins.   That's what RPGs are for, right?  Talking to the monsters?  I seem to recall that one of the codexes from the end put this to rest for me a little, describing their corruption and society as something pretty unpleasant, but still...  we found a third living society of dwarves, and all we can do is murder them.

Spoiler

Anyway people are getting really sensitive about pretty much everything .

This.

I've seen people complain about the violence in Bioware games and I just don't understand. They give you more options than most games to avoid killing others, at least but I've seen those who desire wanting Even less so I'm not surprised people are boohooing about the dlc seriously.

Just make the next DLC the last one. Then they can start working on the next game if they haven't already...

The DLC team and main game team are not all the same team. I don't think the DLC limits them very much in terms of people or resources... Probably more money than anything. The DLC team is smaller. While it has several members from the main game team on it, it's not nearly as large.

Going by what I know of general game development, they would've started working on DA4 (and by "work on" I mean writing or conceptual idea planning) ages ago. Andromeda was well underway before the Citadel DLC was finished, and they started the DLC before ME3 was even out right?

EP, I wonder if there's any way we would write a nice letter to Conal (if he's indeed the "community manager" now), imploring him to make some much needed changes to these boards? The moderating is like spotty internet service, nobody ever responds to any requests, concerns, or issues, and it's just plain non-welcoming.  There has to be a solution besides leave it alone and watch it burn itself down, right? I mean, it's unlikely anyone would even bother coming to add a spoiler, and unless the poster does him or herself, it's just there no matter what.

I PM'd Conal but he hasn't been on the forum in three days. (Fair enough, since it's the weekend, but none of the other mods seem to be active either.)

What if we put it in spoiler tags?

Sorry for snapping but people were putting story details and the new enemy types outside spoiler tags, and even the stuff INSIDE the tags absolutely didn't need to be discussed here.

I know it's hard when the content of dev tweets is spoilery, but really: this should be a place that's free of The Descent spoilers, at least for a while. There's a whole other forum to talk about it.

Mike Laidlaw@Mike_Laidlaw: @user No. It’s a responsibility to keep that stuff straight and deliver it well. Smug creators are too in love with their own stuff.

This is so very true. Mike is a wise man.

Maybe I could get an email address for him and interested parties could draft up a formal note to him all official like? Because I think there ARE people who want this forum to be a safe place to come and interact with other fans and developers in a positive environment. I'm all for rules but they can't be wishy-washy about enforcing them. It needs a complete overhaul and all the current moderators need fired.

If we had a major overhaul of our system to make it more user-friendly with more swift enforcement of rules that matter (this swearing nonsense is nonsense), then maybe even the developers would start to come back. Isn't that what most of us would like? If they felt safe and comfortable returning to have meaningful interactions with the fans again? This place is a cesspool sometimes and it wouldn't take much to whip it back into shape so that we could go back to the way we used to be.

This isn't on-topic but is the forum not a positive place at the moment? I don't actually read much apart from this thread. I thought it was getting better.

It seems a lot of the more hands-on projects to make the community (on BSN) work better were abandoned when Jessica Merizan left the company, and certainly the devs appear to prefer getting their feedback directly on Twitter or by reading Reddit and NeoGAF.

That's not a "whaah why aren't they listening to us" complaint, just an observation - it looks like hardly any devs actually interact with people on their official forums any more, let alone try to make it a well-run and constructive place to have a discussion.

(And it shouldn't be this hard to get somebody with moderation powers to move a thread. They had five or six volunteer mods a few years ago who would do that all the time. Selene_Moonsong and javierabegazo are the two who I remember.)

I don't think it's any better. I think if it was, the developers would start to return..and who can really blame them for staying away? They are blasted as incompetent by a quarter of the fans, threatened with death by another fourth, and half the fans left are too scared to venture out of their particular character threads. Nobody can have reasonable interaction/debate without taking it personally, and most reasonable people stay OUT of the main forums and keep to places like this or the Drinkquisition thread.  If you like the game or have anything positive to say you're labeled a boot licker, and no one can say anything negative in a constructive way. It's redic.

BSN is better than some other forums, but is still not the friendly place Bioware used to host, IMO. And depending on the poster, it can be better or worse, but the Dark Side is strong on these threads.

Have personally been labeled as a Bioware fanboy so often that I should have an official title and T-shirt.... :D

It seems alright, but most people tend to get along with me. I tend to not stray long from the twitter thread as well. It has the eye of pinecone keeping everyone in line ;)

The snapping was entirely justified in my opinion.

The level of spoiler legitimate for this thread is that you, er, descend...

Okay, maybe it's just me, but petitioning Conal seems like a *bit* of an overreaction. Things don't seem that bad around here, but I do tend to be rather diligent with regards to my ignore list, so I could be missing some things.
