Been working on an essay for a while. Would anyone be interested in a "how to get into games" piece with developer interviews?

.@Mike_Laidlaw Do you think we could get class specific cut-scenes in the future? Like in the Descent trailer, casting a firewall spell?
@piotrbugryn We've done them before. I believe killing Cory in Legacy had 5 different variations based on the weapon you had equipped.
@Mike_Laidlaw That I know. But it'd be nice to see something similar in the future.
@piotrbugryn So it's cheaper to make variants than it is to make new, for sure, BUT for those 200 work units, you could double the number of
@piotrbugryn For instance, if we had 100 cutscenes with variants for mage/rogue/warrior we could, say, call that 200 units of work.
@piotrbugryn It's possible. It's also expensive. So it will be used if there is a lot of payoff, but not if not.
@piotrbugryn scenes in your game. What would you do? I would use it sparingly, when it counts.
@Mike_Laidlaw I totally get it that it takes a lot more resources to do that kind of stuff. I'd rather have much more 'standardized' scenes
@Mike_Laidlaw for that money.
@piotrbugryn Yeah. Delicate balancing act, every time. BUT when it really counts (boss kill, etc), it can be absolutely worth it.
@Mike_Laidlaw Well it is something to consider for the next game then (hopefully) as you say it can be worth it :-).

Sure. I don't really care
David Gaider @davidgaiderThe writers' pit had what I can only deem "Starro Issues" this afternoon.Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekesOh right, you have @Sylvf1 now.---------Soooo... Sylvia Feketekuty joined the team working on secret IP as well.
I just imagine wars happening between the two groups of writers. New IP vs DA

Piotr, if that's your name you may even be from my country
It was nice to see a polite disscusion, those people who act like they knew better than the devs themselves how a game developement looks like really annoy me. I am almost always pleased with what I get from BW. It brings me to a question, don't you think like you ask too much? I'm asking not from a moral point of view, but practical. In a prospect of spending x more time on animation itself there may occur a negative effect on what we really care about: the story/lore. It's all about time with EA, it's a massive machine which constantly needs money to work properly and I believe most of plot holes are not designers's fault, but there is simply not enaugh time to include everything which was planned. I personally, prefere when there's actually more game in a game then just nice optional scenes. Don't get me wrong it's a neat thing what you asked them, I just hope the devs won't break and they won't sacriface some content for pleasing fans. Again I hope I didn't offend you or anyone.
Well...There is supposed to be Qunari DLC and Solas DLC? What if they "fuse" those two together somehow? Then it could be worth 40€.
I hope so but for now I dont't see any solid reason to combine those two things. Solas doesn't seem to be interested in the Qunari themselves. The only thing which may cath his attention is how they are enslaved by Qun. But for now there's nothing to do with it, at least this doesn't look like one of his priorities. The only way I see is something which Solas may be doing but it's hitting the Qunary as a side effect, like, I don't know, maybe weakening the Veil is a slow process and it wakes magic in them, which we know they really hate and they would be probably the very first to notice. Somehow they would blame the Inquisition for that because Rifts etc. But this would be weird because they should obviously blame Tevinter for that. I don't know. I'd love to see some post-game Solas, but for now we have no proof it will ever happen in any DLC.
I wonder if perhaps the ben-hassrath/qunari are on solas' trail, arriving in force cus they (think they) know what he's done somehow or maybe even they suspect who/what he is, and the Inquisition can either help or hinder their tracking of him? Like we choose whether we're siding wiht Solas at the time or want ot help the Qunari find him if they tell us why they're looking. And this decision decides whether we're in opposition to the Qunari for at least a portion of the DLC. I would assume we'd be able to make a secondary decision with how to proceed with him once we'd actually caught up to him, of course. That could be a fun RP experience.
/wild speculation
This isn't on-topic but is the forum not a positive place at the moment? I don't actually read much apart from this thread. I thought it was getting better.
I know, right? I opened the twitter thread this morning, started reading and almost immediately felt compelled to say something like "I love the forums so fennec much right about now". The badness level seems to be dropping somewhat. Although truth is I only rarely venture outside of the Twitter Threads. Best stop talking about it, though - not to jinx it. Also, not to get off topic.

I don't think the two are connected more than setting up for DA4. Dodut the Qunari would see Solas as a threat enough to chase him down and neither would Solas waste his time with the Qunari. The Qunari are a problem among side of Solas or who ever is causing crap around Thedas hinted in the leak.
The Qunari goal is to invade and convert all of Thedas to the Qun. This would be a good time to do so being how screwed Thedas is at the moment. The Chantry is only first getting themselves back together now having a new Divine; Orlais' civil war just ended (or will start up again if you ended up have a three end truce between the three parties); Nevarra's king is old and ill; and incase the king/queen of Ferelden or the empire/empress of Orlais are killed, they have no heir to the throne. And of course Tevinter stands alone. This would be the best time to strike with all the chaos going on. This would only be the beginning of an invasion though, being they're setting up for the next game.
As for Solas: He's up to something and most likely will play a huge part in the DLC somehow. What exactly? We don't know.

The big choice whether we're siding with Solas or not is more likely to happen (or any choice of that importance) as I recollect some fan asking this on twitter: https://twitter.com/...627854466564096
Just my opinion, but I enjoy this thread way more than any Twitter account I could make. Loathe phones and most social media, but threads such as these are informative and quite entertaining.
Thanks to all who make such as this a viable source!
