If there's a "maker" couldnt there be a Thedas version of Satan? I don't recall any of the canticles or anything mentioning a big giant first-evil type of thing. I'm not saying the maker is real but I am surprised the chantry doesnt have a opposition for him

Could it be a Greater Pride Demon? The lore about them suggests that if one is able to cross the Veil it is a threat to the entire world. 

 

Or maybe The Formless One, the most powerful of the four Forbidden Ones?

The Old Gods effectively fill this role, having turned mortals away from the Maker.

People put a little too much stock in that codex on pride demons. I don't think greater pride demons are the world-ending cosmic-level threats some seem to think they are. To put this in context, the Tower of Bone in Emprise du Lion is said to be the prison of a greater pride demon. If they were such hot s**t, then how could a single blood mage imprison one?

I maintain my belief that the Baroness was a greater pride demon. She certainly did threaten the world, but I think that's as tough as they get.

You know what's interesting? During the battle with Imshael, he calls out to Gaxkhang and Xebenkeck for aid but not him. I sort of wonder if the Formless One is the token good teammate of the Forbidden Ones.

Since we know so little about the Forbidden Ones, yet they seem to be somehow impotrant, I think it is highly possible.

 

EDIT:  I considered those things and I'm sure Corypheus may be only called the biggest threat in 'modern' Thedas. There must have been some heeeaaavy s**t happening thousands of years ago, remember when Flemeth/Mythal said that she was betrayed as the whole world was betrayed? I don't think it's just emotional exaggeration in her case...

The Old Gods would fit the bill , I think in some chantry lore they are described as his first children ,I'm not a pro about Satan , but I think he was a fallen angel?

And the old gods started to whisper to humanity , turning them away from the Maker (1st sin )
Then they tell the magisters to go look for candy in the Golden City , unleashing the Blight (2nd sin)

Or perhaps that while Gaxkhang and Xebenkeck might have helped their fellow Forbidden One, The Formless One wouldn't due to seeing Imshael as weak or something, possibly even killing him himself.

Especially with the next game possibly taking place in Tevinter, and the Forbidden Ones being suspected of teaching humans blood magic. Maybe the DLC will be like Legacy and establish The Formless One as the threat, or one of the threats, for the next game.

You know, I had a theory prerelease that the Inquisitor would turn out to be the Formless One, except s/he had bonded with the would-be Inquisitor and forgotten their true identity, like Cole did originally.

I still kinda hope they explore that angle with a future protagonist.

As to the greatest threat, I still think there's a greater force behind the Blight, something directing the darkspawn to seek the Old Gods that we haven't seen or heard of yet.

I could see a certain Egg unleashing the Formless One, while they're plucking relics from the White Spire.

 

I just hope we don't get a twist where we find out the Formless One is joy riding Sandal. That would mean going Uma on that one of the kind Dwarf.

 

Uma is a character in The Witcher 3, so those who've played it and completed it will understand!

Serious, non-snarky question: did I miss something? I know we're expecting an announcement next Saturday, but I'm not at all clear on why so many people thought the Corypheus tweet was anything other than the twitter account's usual "picture of a character with a quote printed next to them and a small-talk-provoking question". This one even more so.

 

(EDIT: And to be clear, I do think the final DLC will deal with [redacted] and will [finally] include new content for the advisors. I just don't think the last few filler tweets from @dragonage are part of the evidence for that.)

They have said how they're thinking of going north for the setting of the next game, and the new comic is taking place in Tevinter, and they have been expanding on Tevinter and the Qun a lot so people are thinking it will take place in Tevinter, or at least Tevinter will be one of the nations.
