I really wonder if they've re-thought this, just based on the fact that they're announcing something big at PAX. They didn't even do a trailer for The Descent at Gamescom, so why would another $15 DLC get a big announcement at a massive gaming convention? Unless they're announcing DA4 too or something, haha.

Descent was supposed to be shown at Gamescon but they got bumped as per Mark Darrah

Second-guessing the survey is not going to do anything but disappoint you.

That was EA's decision (hopefully they needed the extra screen time for Yarny).

Mark already said that they were originally part of the presentation (and they did release the trailer that day).

You know, I had a theory prerelease that the Inquisitor would turn out to be the Formless One, except s/he had bonded with the would-be Inquisitor and forgotten their true identity, like Cole did originally.

I still kinda hope they explore that angle with a future protagonist.

As to the greatest threat, I still think there's a greater force behind the Blight, something directing the darkspawn to seek the Old Gods that we haven't seen or heard of yet.

The Calling and the search for the Old Gods underground may be the only thing keeping the Darkspawn threat at bay.  What happens when there are no more old gods for them to find?  The Grey Wardens thought that meant "no more blight".  What if it means ENDLESS blight, because they're not preoccupied with digging any more?

Spoiler

I still think the blight pre-dates the attempted invasion of "The Golden City" whatever it was.  The thaig where they found the red lyrium idol in DA2 was OLD.  Pre-Imperium old, maybe.

True, but there seems to be a big gap between a trailer that gets bumped last minute and an announcement that they hype up weeks in advance and specifically write into the PAX panel description. Just seems out of character w/r/t the rest of their DLC promotion/schedule so I can't help but wonder if it's something more.

Buuuut I'm probably overthinking it.

Nobody said it was bumped last minute (EA specified the games that would get coverage in advance; if DA had been one of them, they would have hyped it then like they're doing now).

The only difference now is that BioWare is in control of the presentation, so it becomes harder to bump their own content (though I imagine it could still have happened if there were some catastrophic failure in the project that had threatened its intended release).

I know you're all super-hyped right now (Hell knows I'm too!), but I'd like to remind you those new bard songs are supposed to be about the Elves and Scout Harding...so it really looks like a lot for a single DLC  ;)

The survey said expansion, but who knows

A lot of companies don't actually refer to their stuff as 'dlc'

Maker knows, I'd love to see it...but this sounds too ambitious for a DLC.

Yeah, I'm kinda worried that we expect too much from this last DLC. I mean, even with stuff mentioned in that survey, that seemed like a LOT. I hope it won't be - to steal Tolkien's line - "thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread"...

It happened with Citadel. (in that new locations, one permanent location, combat area, companion interaction..etc)  why can't the same thing happen with Inquisition?

I have a feeling Hissrad!Bull will most likely need to be put down being, well...Qunari Invasion. Ben-Hassrath. He's likely going to be ordered to stab you in the back whether he likes it or not. If he became Tal-Vashoth though, he's loyal to you (as well as the rest of his friends and The Chargers). I would be surpise (if not downright peeved) if Bull ended up betraying the Inquisitor when he was kicked out of the Qun. That doesn't make sense let alone would be OOC of his character (even if his Qunari title meant 'liar', he didn't like being called that)

That's not saying Bull won't die if he's Tal-Vashoth, it's a possibly; but for the most part I think he's going to be safe.

The only characters I think a Virmire scenario would work if they joined you by default. Most of your companions with the exception of Cassandra, Varric and Solas; you can choose not to have them join the Inquisition.

Part of me thinks this will have to do with Solas and whoever drank from the Well of Sorrows. So pretty much Morrigan/Inquisitor vs Solas. I could be wrong but this is what I THINK may happen.

It means whoever wrote that codex entry 7 years ago chose to express the Qunari culture from the viewpoint of somebody who had traveled to Par Vollen.

Am I the only one here who doesn't like Disney endings? Seriously, war is war. There are sacifices on both sides and why only peoply you don't care about could be dying? This is something I love about BW, you actually feel consequences of your actions. It's good when you can avoid your friend's death (like with Mordin, I save him everytime and I also don't want the genophage to be cured  :P ) but for a price. Dealing with world-shaking events shouldn't be easy and we as players are not afraid of every arrow as potential death (like it would be in reality) so the best way for us to feel the pressure of events are CHOICES  ;)

Well, that's the real world. Wars come and go and the ones who feed it never got into action. Only the "nobody" go to the battlefield and die. =P

Liam @Liamous

There is a legend that gets passed along from tester to tester here at Bioware. It is the legend of @inferiorwit and the clown.

Liam @Liamous

Testers stare in awe as the tale is told of how she spent days roaming the desert in search of a dead clown.

Liam @Liamous

The twist was the dead clown had been removed from that level for several weeks!
